To Kentucky and Back (1)

Scott and I had a nice trip last week when we drove down to Louisville. We were away Wednesday to Monday which was a nice vacation away. Here’s what we did for the first few days!

On Wednesday we drove down through the fog and rain, it wasn’t that nice of a drive. We stopped at Bass Pro Shops on the way down I-65 so Scott could drool over boats and fishing rods and the continued down to Louisville (and stopped at a Cracker Barrel too!) and arrived at our hotel- Springhill Suites by Marriott.

After a restful nights sleep we got up in the morning to go to the Machinery Show which was held at the fair grounds.  We saw The University of Louisville on our way there, which had about fifteen bazillion different fields- okay maybe only 7 but it was all in the span of like 3 blocks and seemed like a lot! And they were all nicer then our fields at U of Guelph!  You American’s and your sports!

The Machinery Show was huge, unlike anything I’ve seen. Tractors, combines, planters, and bins everywhere!  It took us a full day just to walk up and down every aisle and not talk to anyone. Constantly walking.  I tried to capture how large the show was but I couldn’t. Click on the next photo for a larger version, I made a panorama shot from standing on a combine.

Thursday night we tried to find a mall but the GPS lead us to a random parking lot of an apartment building… so then the GPS and I got in a fight, we drove back to the hotel and walked to Fourth Street Live to find some food and walked around Borders.

Friday we walked around the show again just to see the things that Scott wanted to see again, mainly corn dryers.

Then we took a walk around Louisville to see the sights and went to the Louisville Science Centre. Which basically sucked. It was not as cool as the Toronto one. Maybe I’m being harsh, I probably didn’t like it because I am 23 and it’s for young children but I honestly think I would still like the Toronto Science Centre if I went today.  At the Science Centre we also saw an IMAX film about the Grand Canyon which was good. The movie was the highlight of the Science Centre.

And that concludes Friday. I’ll save the rest of the trip for the next post and make this trip a 2-poster.  Stay tuned for lots of pictures of horses!

We went to Toronto Science Centre last year with a couple friends and it was pretty lame. I mean, there was lots to do…but it’s definitely different when you’re older. I feel like I’ve lost my childhood excitement for science…oh my!

Try going to the London children’s museum in this day and age! It’s so odd when you remember something as completely magical and it turns out to be pretty lame. Although I believe that it was better in our day… I hope.

Mic- the London Childrens Museum has an Andy Warhol exhibit on now and I realllyyy want to go!
I went to the Science and Technology Museum here and it wasn’t too bad. They had a space ride that we went on.
