I have no ideas why...perhaps because it is a fake nipple. My babies (I have had 3) all refused them because they were latex and the taste was nasty. So I have been absolutely no help. He used it and loved it, after we had gone through tons of different brands and types. Sigh. I don't know if you have tried the latex but my kiddos did the best with those. They are a lot softer and maybe that will help her. We have always used the Nuk latex pacifiers.
