The Pie Plate Search

I love baking pies, and cookies and muffins!

My favourite kind of pie is raspberry pie (which I have actually never baked), but I also adore peach pie and a good old fashioned apple pie.   For the longest time I have been searching for a nice pie plate.  Mom and my mother in law were also searching to buy one for me and both came up empty handed.

Recently I decided that I need to become more spontaneous during the week and do more then work, go to the barn, make dinner, relax/play practice/go to brownies and sleep. Time is flying by and I need to make the most of it.  So when our friend Allison decided to hold a Pampered Chef party at her house near St. Catherines, on a Thursday night, Mic and I decided to check it out!  I really wasn’t planning on buying anything but once I got there and saw Allison’s beautiful pie plate (she loves making pies!) I had to buy one.  So pampered chef got some of my money and I get a pretty stoneware pie plate and all was well!

That was until I got home and saw a value village bag on the counter and opened it to find a pie plate inside!  Mom happened to go to thrifting and was on the lookout for a pie plate, found one and happened to give it to me on the same day I bought one.  What are the odds of that?

So now I have 2 pie plates and lots of baking to do!

Ooh – I love love LOVE your Pampered Chef one! The thrifted one looks pretty unique, what a cool find.

One request – if you manage to perfect a recipe & technique for making pie crust, please share! I’m a little bit terrified of making my own pies from scratch because I’m not great at making any kind of baked goods that are a bit finicky. Most recently, I made some slightly-tough scones. I’m always on the look-out for baking tips.

I am putting in a request for Pecan Pie!!! And pumpkin pie – over Christmas Tim’s Mom made the most amazing punpkin pie and I have a newfound respect for it. I am generally not a pie person but I really want to test out your new plates!

PS I think this post wins for the most amount of exclamation points in a blog post. Clearly you are very excited about pie right now!

haha, that is a coincidence! I loooove the pampered chef one – but I am incredibly partial. That value village one is so cute! and a lid? great idea. I’m going to check there for some for me!

Thanks again for coming! The more the merrier!

I love thrifting!!! I just found a couple antique/vintage stores here in Guelph (just moved) and was so excited… held back on buying anything – for now!

The bright red colour is very pretty – I’m sure your pies will taste great it in!

Thanks for all the lovely comments! I’ll have to bake some pies and take some pictures.

Leah- year I must be very excited about pies. But I do love using exclamation points, a bit too much. I will scale down.

Laura- I’ll let you know if I find the perfect crust recipe. :)

Thrifting is fun, but I’m don’t really have much patience for it.

While I have a bias to the Pampered Chef plate, I think that your VV find is excellent! It is my favourite place to go treasure hunting! The best location (in my experience) – is Guelph. I always find the neatest stuff there!

Back to the PC pie plate – it should arrive this week,so hopefully you get to test it out shortly and LOVE it!
