Fiveblondes Giveaway

Picture 1I’ve been feeling very creative lately, so I went to Michael’s and raided the clearance aisles.  I looove headbands, even though they have trouble staying on my head (any pointers on that? haha), and I love to make them.  These headbands are made of ribbon and fabric that I sewed on, and are the cutest things everr! Kaylee is wearing hers right now too!

Headband numero uno-pink and white “humpty dumpty” patterned:

Headband: #1 (even though it probably looks prettier on your blonde hair than my brunette! :-p)

Childhood Memory: Growing up on a farm I have a lot of great and random childhood memories, but there is nothing I loved more than finding brand new kittens up in the haymow. It was hot as hell up there in the summer but cuddling sweet little teeny fuzzballs was the best feeling.

Childhood Memory: the time I played barber with my sister and left the mess for my mom to find. Will never forget that scream. My sister had a mushroom cap for the next year.
Extra bonus: If I win you won’t even have to pay postage – I live in Ottawa!

Headband: #2, that zebra print rocks. I adore these headbands!!
Childhood memory: Making applebutter with my grandfather and the rest of my family. It used to be a really big event, all my aunts, cousins etc would gather at my grandparents house. My grandfather makes it outside in a huge copper kettle over a fire. If I close my eyes and think real hard, I can inhale and smell the scent of apples and cinnamon. I still love apple butter making time.

Headband: #1 – I’m a brunette and am thinking the light colors would “pop” more against my dark hair :)
Childhood Memory: My grandma & granpda watched me after school & during the summers. My favorite memory of that was laying on the floor with my grandpa while we played Dr. Mario. Seriosuly – he could kick anyone’s ass at that game. Now, everytime anyone says anything about Dr. Mario, I always smile and remember Grandpa Pete!

Memory : every summer/fall going veggie picking with my mum and brothers at a local farm and making homemade pickles and salsa, and the rule always was if you helped you got to eat them, no help, not eat.. haha
and it’s even cuter now that she’s doing it with my 3 yr old. he’s still too little to make salsa, but he made his 1st pickles this year.

Memory: Going to the cottage with my brother and 3 cousins every summer when I was growing up! The sun, the sand, the lake, roasting marshmellows, and playing hide and seek. I can’t wait to have kids and take them up to the cottage!

Headband: #2 – It was so hard to pick though, I love them both. That’s such a cute idea… they’re adorable!!

Childhood Memory : That’s so hard… maybe when I was 6 and we rented a cabin on the west coast over New Years and went fishing and lots of other fun stuff. My dad was away so often on business that whenever we got to spend time together as a family it was awesome.

I really like the black and white headband. My greanddaughter would love this..

Number 2! (I hope I win, I’m all about headbands and berets this season!)
I’m sticking with hair for this childhood memory. I remember going to my grandma’s before school and always asking her to do my hair in a side ponytail. But it was like the early 90s so of course, it would be like on top of my head. hahaha, so funny.

Head band #2 – cuz it’s all about the Zebra stripes right now! And I think black would look best with my paramedic uniform…haha

I’ll also put in a childhood memory. When I was little I used to give hair cuts to everything from the pets (our cats lost their whiskers, or patches of fuzz), my brother (lost his rat tail – which was sooo cool back then), my barbies (basically all went bald, then I’d cry to my mom for new ones when they all looked ugly), or myself (always right before picture day too for some reason). I’m glad I finally outgrew it, but it only took like 7 years…haha

Headband: #2, Love the Zebra Print!

Childhood Memory: On Friday nights we used to have family game nights and watch TGIF [Thank God It's Friday] on ABC, I think it was. Watching Home Improvement and Full House while playing a long game of Monopoly was my favorite thing to do every weekend.

  13. Love the headband you’re wearing in the first photo. Your creativeness makes me want to go get my craft on!

Favourite childhood memory is from when I was 4 years old. At nursery school they had just gotten one of those cool little play kitchens and a play hair salon. I was playing in the hair salon with another little girl who had a beautiful long blonde pony tail. My hair was short and crummy and I was so jealous of it. So I took some safety scissors from the art table and when I was styling her hair I cut her entire pony tail off. All nearly 10 inches of it. I just cut it right off! That’s not an easy thing to do with safety scissors and she even asked once what I was doing and I told her to trust me. TRUST ME I said. Seriously. And I cut her beautiful pony tail off. I know you’re wondering why this is my favourite childhood memory, but it’s because of our 2 year old who would also do something like this. It’s the red headedness in us. Yikes. Please make sure your family’s raspberry does not go to the same nursery school as Rachel!

  14. I like Headband 1. I would wear it every day!

Favorite childhood memory is going with my Grandma to her bowling league once a week and hanging out with her and all of her friends. Every once in a while, I’d get to throw a ball, but mainly just hearing them chat and drinking pop was fun enough for me. :)

What gorge hair accessories! They are divine!

One of my fave childhood memories was when we had a family picnic at the airport. We were still living in Australia back then (now I live in Houston), and my dad and brother loved planes. So we all got in the car expecting to go to some park for our picnic… imagine my surprise when Dad pulled up at the aiport! Luckily the Brisbane airport in Australia is pretty with lots of trees and greenery (and this was before airport security was beefed up). But it’s such a lovely little memory.

I love #1! Can you tell me how you made it? Circles or squares of fabric, pinched in the middle? I am feeling like I want to give it a shot as well. :)

Reading the memories about family made me thing of making homemade pierogies with my grandma when I was younger…granted, she did more of the cooking and I did more of the eating, but super fun nonetheless! And now I know how to make my own pierogies! Another adventure for this weekend perhaps.
