Canadians are celebrating Victoria Day this weekend, which doesn’t mean anything to me except LONG WEEKEND (which is so, so much needed right now). In Calgary we call it “May Long” but in Ontario it is better known as “May Two-Four” (and many a two-four is consumed over the weekend, but that’s another blog post altogether…)
To me it means camping! My wonderful cousin and his lovely girlfriend invited Tim and I to go camping with them this weekend and I very exuberantly agreed to come along. The Blondes used to go camping every August with a bunch of other families but I haven’t been camping in for-freaking-ever.
I can’t wait to sit by the fire, to get a tan (unless it snows … which is unfortunately to be expected over May two-four in Calgary), eat hot dogs and possibly consume my body weight in s’mores.
I know many other bloggers will be in Vegas this weekend celebrating Bloggers in Sin City and I am ohmigosh SO jealous of them. What are you doing to celebrate the long weekend?

I hope you have an awesome time camping! Unfortunately all the parks in ALberta have a ban on both campfires and alcohol this long weekend so I hope you guys are going out of province!

My plans have definitely changed from my younger days when I’d go camping in a beach town the rain every year and sleep either in a car, tent, or tiny section of a boat in the rain (why is it always horrible weather on May 2 4?)
Kent and I have been compiling little plans all week and it won’t be the most exciting long weekend in the books but any long weekend is okay with me! I think every day this week we’ve mentioned how we just really want to super-clean our apartment on Saturday. We also both have a bunch of relatives coming to town so that will take up most of the weekend.

We’re going camping too! Out near Medicine Hat. I’ve never been near Medicine Hat so I’m excited! And I’ve also noticed how people call it May long here. It’s catchy.

I get to go to Taylor Swift on sat and then convince the hubby we dont need to go to the cottage where his whole family will be…unlike some people I am not blessed with a good mother-in-law or sister-in-law, so I must avoid if possible..sucks ’cause I love the cottage and all the men in his family…lol
the whole extended family is heading to my sister’s this weekend to camp in her backyard, play games and eat. I’m leading a tie dying activity so harry will be getting a sweet new tie dyed onesie! and of course we’ll be hitting up calithumpian monday!
Camping sounds like fun! My sister is coming to Halifax tomorrow and staying overnight, so we’ll have dinner and drinks, then shopping Saturday. On Sunday some friends and I are getting a cottage at the beach, and the weather is supposed to be nice…22-24ish and sunny. Here’s hoping!! Have a great long weekend!

Up in Timmins they call the May long weekend “May Run”, I have no idea why, and I start to feel funny when I call it May 2-4 up here! I wish I could go camping — unfortunately I’m working all weekend!
