Can’t Dodge This (Baby Time!) – 24 weeks

Pregnancy and I have gotten along quite well over the past 24 (almost 25!) weeks. I feel good and I haven’t had to change much about how I’m living life, aside from always ensuring I know where the nearest washroom is. I stopped drinking alcohol (save for a glass of champagne at my cousin’s wedding), I cut out down on caffiene, I try to eat healthier foods (blogging snack: carrots!), and I’m careful not to overexert myself and cause any undue stress on my body. But there is one thing that I had to give up and am really missing: Dodgeball.

It was two years ago that we joined a dodgeball team along with our friends D & B. I was excited to join – it had been a while since I had played a team sport and really missed it! Denis had never been part of a sports team and was apprehensive at first. Luckily, it turns out that dodgeball just may be his calling in life. He complains to me throughout the week – ‘I wish it was dodgeball night already!‘ It’s a great way to let out your frustrations and have fun at the same time. I’ve been demoted to cheerleader for this season and likely for next season as well, if I make it to any games at all!

Everyone on our team has different skills and strengths – some even have their own ‘moves’. Denis calls his move ‘dust in the eyes’ and he is 10 for 10 using it this season (successfully hitting an opposing player).  It plays with your peripheral vision. Den lobs a ball high enough in the air to hit the ceiling. When the ball hits the ceiling it is a dead ball, so even if the opposing team catches it, Den won’t be out. While it is still in the air, he quickly grabs another ball and throws it at an opposing player. They generally have their eye on the first ball and aren’t ready for a second ball being thrown at them! Sounds crazy but it works.

My skill is definitely dodging. I can move pretty quick and I’m not afraid to throw myself out of the way. The running joke in our team is that all I really have to do is turn sideways and I disappear! Unfortunately the whole ‘turn sideways’ thing wouldn’t work very well anymore…

My dodgeball shirt still fits though! Sort of.

Brianna – 1 Month

1 month- August 10

The fam jam just got back from our road trip (yes I said road trip) to denver on Saturday so being the slacker mom of 2 that I am, I missed Brianna’s 1 month post. She is growing like a weed (a good weed) and I have not posted much about her yet on the blog so here are some updates.

1 month- August 10

Weight – 10lbs 3 oz (growing at the same speed as Hailey did, Bri was 7lbs 11oz at birth)

Length – 21.5 inches (up 1 inch)

Diapers – We switched to size 1 around when she was a month old, we ran out of newborn diapers and didn’t want to buy a new pack only to have her grow out before we finished the pack.

Clothes – At 1 month she was wearing some newborn stuff and a few 0-3 clothes.

Feedings – Every 3 hours during the day, sometimes 2.5, but usually 3.

Nighttime – Thinking back I think she had done a couple 5 hour stretches, but after that she was up every 2-3 hours to finish the night and goes wonderfully right back to sleep after (not so much the case now…)

Personality – I think she is more easy going then Hailey but that changes by the minute. She hasn’t shown much personality yet, she still sleeps lots.

Development – Getting a stronger neck every day, need to do more tummy time, which is hard with a toddler hanging around. No smiles yet.

Loves

Welll I’m not to sure what she loves yet, so I’m going to say she loves her mom, dad and big sister Hailey.

Hates

Car rides (did I mention we just got back from a road trip? there were a few yikes moments)

Napping (yea, not so fun)

Baby #2- 31 Weeks Pregnant

week 3131 weeks

How far along?: 31 Weeks

How big is baby?: The size of a squash- ~15.5 inches long and weighs ~3 lbs

Weight gain/loss?: Up 18 lbs. I gained a lot over the past few weeks, I might be eating too much chocolate. ((I just read my 31 weeks post from Hailey and I am up the exact same amount, and the heartbeat was the same too!))

Maternity clothes?:  Yup.

Food cravings?: Nothing I can think of lately.

Movement?: Oh yes.

Belly button?: Pretty sure it is going to pop soon. My belly button never popped with Hailey but this time I really think it might.

Aches and Pains?: Right rib pain (I had this with Hailey as well) and my hips are beginning to hurt as well. I woke up to Braxton Hicks contractions on Tuesday, and lots of puking, not fun.

What are you looking forward to this week?  Nothing really to look forward to. I have to work Saturday meaning  I have to miss out on our planned Garage Sale trip.

Funny stories from the past couple weeks. On Easter in church Hailey decided she needed to see my baby belly and tried to lift my shirt up like she does at home. I wouldn’t let her and she started crying. Not really appropriate for church Hailey!

On Sunday we had an Easter/Mother’s Day family get together. My cousin Lara was there and had been warned that Hailey might try to lift up her shirt to see her ‘baby’. At first Hailey didn’t seem to care that Lara had a baby belly, but when we were saying bye to her someone said “Look Hailey, Lara has a baby too” and Hailey went to lift up Lara’s shirt. So adorable and funny. I felt bad that we all started laughing at her but it was just so cute.

A fun collage showing where my belly popped- Hello 19 weeks!

My 29 & 30 Weeks photos that I never posted.

week 29week 30

I’ve been having different feelings this pregnancy. With my first pregnancy I needed the 40 weeks to get ready for the baby, mentally. However now I just want this baby, which makes it harder  because I know the baby needs to grow and develop more inside me but it’s so hard to wait 40 weeks (or longer). But really this pregnancy has gone by pretty fast, it’s crazy to me that I’m already 31 weeks pregnant! Only about 63 more days to go.

Three Months

My babe is now three months old. He’s survived rolling over, two emergency room visits, and the big move to his own room this month.

More Exciting News

I guess it’s time to share a secret that I’ve been holding in for almost 2 months now…

With the birth of one baby we start the growth of another. We never stop with the excitement around here!

Welcome Casey Donovan!

We are SO excited to welcome the adorable Casey Donovan into our ever growing family.  Mom, Dad and I went to visit the proud parents in the hospital just hours after the birth. They were tired and overwhelmed, but very happy and healthy!  Kate, Erica, Hailey and our friend Laura L. went to visit them today, and took plenty of pictures, and had some fun introducing the cousins.

Casey Donovan was born on December 28, 2010, weighing a very healthy 7 pounds, 1 ounce.

Kisses from his cousin Hailey!

It's a Boy!

Congratulations to Micaela & her husband Kent, they had a baby boy today, December 28th 2010.

We are overjoyed to welcome this beautiful baby boy to our family. More details to come!

We have a walker!

I’m so excited, Hailey took her first steps today!

This video is not of her first actual steps, but was taken minutes later, while practicing her skills!

I’m also so excited to be an AUNT this week! Stay tuned to hear if Mic has a girl or boy!!

Before & After

I never realized how much weight I’ve gained until I saw this picture of me pre-pregnancy! You can read more baby news and other Micaela and Kent news at kentandmicaela.com (although probably only baby news for awhile!)

Before (on my first day of teaching in February, apparently I felt the need to document myself that day – totally not preggo):

After (at my baby shower at about 36 weeks pregnant):
