Happy Birthday Leah!

Happy 25th Birthday Leah!

Hailey’s absolute favourite person to talk to on the phone is Leah. If she grabs the phone and you ask her who she is talking to the answer will be Leah 90% of the time. So in honour of Leah’s birthday I let Hailey call Leah, they gabbed for a bit and Hailey told her about snowmen and then I heard beeping and realized that one of them had hung up. So I’m not sure how long the conversation was, but I’m confident they both loved it.

We all wish you a Happy Birthday Leah, but here it is in Hailey form.

Happy Birthday Micaela!

So yesterday was Micaela’s birthday, but I’m pretty sure that everyone is extremely busy lately, so the post is just getting up today.  Since I wasn’t home (2 midterms this week=a little busy), I read what Mic did for her birthday over on her other blog Kent and Micaela.  If you love her blog, like so many of us do, you can even even find them on Facebook by searching Kent and Micaela, where you can get some Photos of the Day, which include this one:

And who wouldn’t want to see this picture, because I’m pretty sure that it’s the cutest picture ever taken of a mother and her son! She also got a new camera for her birthday, so I’m pretty sure (hoping) we can be expecting more pictures!

So happy birthday to Mic, and I can’t wait to move home after this semester and hang out with you and Casey more (all the time)!

Happy Birthday Oldest Sister

I think we are all (minus Leah) still in vacation mode because we missed wishing Erica a big Happy Birthday!

Erica recently announced her pregnancy on the blog and we are all so excited for her and Denis! They will be amazing parents to another cute blonde baby.

Before you all knew this wonderful news, and when I was still pregnant, Erica and I got to take a sisters pregnancy picture!

Love you big sister!

Super Birthday Wishes for our Resident Super Mom – Katelyn!

She was already an amazing mom with one…with the upgrade to 2, she has officially achieved the status of Super Mom. Of course, being a Super Mom is not what defines her. She is also a thoughtful and generous sister and friend, among many other things!

Happy Birthday Kate! We hope you have had a lovely day (and we’re happy to hear that you are getting a double stroller very soon! You deserve it!).

A doubly-awesome birthday-day.

Birthday Season has officially started on the Blonde blog! Last Thursday (June 9) we celebrated lovely Lauren who is now 22! Happy birthday Lauren :) It seems like just yesterday she was still our ‘baby’ sister who mom spoiled when the rest of us girls were at school. Now she’s all grown up. Lauren is lucky enough to share a birthday with our Opa (mom’s dad), who turned 80 on the same day! We had a family golf game and dinner at our golf course to celebrate the big birthday and had tons of fun!

Note from Lauren: In case you were wondering, this is what I did on my last day of being 21:  (nice shorts tan, eh?)  Casey was bathing with me, but when he got out I needed a lay down!

Happy First Birthday Hailey!

One year ago at 3:30am I woke up feeling contractions for the first time ever and knew that this day my life would change, at 12:30pm Scott and I headed to the hospital and at 7:10pm our beautiful daughter Hailey was born!

1 year of growing

So much can change in a year. It’s amazing how much one little girl can learn and develop in such a short time period. We went from having a tiny little helpless newborn baby, to a wiggly then sitting baby, to a crawling getting into everything big girl and now we have a toddler who loves to walk/run everywhere!  At times I wish life would slow down and Hailey could be small for longer, but then I realize how much fun I’m having during each and every stage.

Scott and I went to Ottawa for 2 days and when we got back I swear she grew 3 inches! I know it’s not true, but just seeing the changes that happened over 2 days blew my mind. Every child I saw in Ottawa brought a smile to my face as I thought about Hailey and how excited I was to see her again, good thing we didn’t go away for longer.

Hailey’s first birthday party is next Sunday, I’m excited for our family and a couple friends, everyone who loves Hailey, to get together and celebrate her one year of life so far. Hailey brings a smile to so many people’s faces, I’m so lucky to have her as my daughter and I know she will be the best big sister when her new brother or sister comes in July.

1st birthday invite

On Monday we will start a new chapter in ours lives. Hailey will begin day care and I will return to work. I know it will be difficult, more for me then for Hailey, but I know once we get into the routine I will get through it and before I know it, it will be June/July and we can spend time together before the new baby arrives.

Happy Birthday Hailey! We love you very much!

Happy Birthday Leah!

Today it is Leah’s 24th birthday! A lot has gone on since her last birthday, including a new baby in the family, a big move across the country, which we are all so excited about, and her search for a job, which you have all been through with her while reading her blog posts. We are so happy that she is closer to the whole family, and can’t wait until she and Tim get settled in Toronto and she gets a job!
Happy birthday Leah!

ps. Today is our last day of NaBloPoMo. Can you believe it?! This month has gone by so quickly, and it feels like only yesterday that Erica posted our first post of the month announcing it.
Thanks so much to everyone who read and commented, and I hope you continue to do the same in the coming months!

Happy Birthday Micaela!

With Mic’s post yesterday, you had to know this post was coming today!

Wishing our beautiful pregnant sister Micaela a wonderful birthday. This will be your last birthday before you are a mother. Enjoy every minute of it, next year will be different, but wonderful just the same!

Happy Birthday Mickers!

Good things about getting older.

It’s my birthday tomorrow, and birthdays aren’t generally things people get too excited about after the age of 21 or so. Celebrating them can still be fun but everyone dreads the actual getting older part. I loved being in my late teens and early twenties when life felt like one big party. But you know what, now things like buying our house, imagining what it’s going to be like when the baby is born, and making enough money to pay for the things I want and the things I need are as exciting as running around with my friends at our favourite bar used to be.

Here are a few of my favourite things about getting older:

Coffee. It’s one of those things that seems like the grossest thing in the world until one day, you realize that it’s actually the most wonderful thing in the world.

Staying in. When you’re younger you feel like a loser staying in on a weekend night. Now you stay in, or come home early and you get to feel totally responsible and cozy. And get to feel great the next day too.

Living with someone I love.
To be honest, I was pretty lucky and never had a horrible roommate situation in university, but I know my sisters can attest to the fact that living with roommates can suck. Even in good situations, aside from really close friends, it can be kind of weird living with people you don’t know all that well. It’s way preferable to live with someone who totally adores you, if you can arrange that to happen.

How about you?

Birthday, birthday, almost famous.

You may not realize it, but it’a a big day in Fiveblondeland. It is our Erica’s birthday – she is 28 years old today! Holy moly, I can’t believe my oldest sister is almost 30. Not to rub it in or anything, Sceri…

This beautiful photo was taken on her wedding day.

Also – I should note that it was Mrs. Kate’s birthday on the 31st of July and her terrible sisters neglected to inform all of you about it. So happy belated birthday Katers, mother of the most beautiful girl in the entire universe. Kate’s birthday used to be my favourite holiday of the entire year as it was the one day that Kate would just let loose, take back one too many tequila shots and let me tell you, this girl is an absolute blast when she is ready to part-ay.

An homage to that side of Kate:

Did you know that our Mom has a blog too? And that she is a world class seamstress? And that our local paper just wrote an article about her? She is quickly surpassing her daughters in cool-ness. Check out the article entitled “Online Passion for Fashion”. We’re proud of you, Mommio!
