BIKINI. SHOPPING.

Maybe for some of you this time passed awhile ago, but I live in Calgary and summertime seems to have forgotten about us this year. Even just the words make me shudder. The thought of standing in the change room, with your underwear uncomfortably on underneath the overpriced bottoms, the horrible lighting (what IS it with the lighting in those dank change rooms anyways!?), the judgemental eyes of the salespeople, the pasty skin from a winter of -40c weather, ugh. The list goes on.

This year I *think* I have found a way around the process. I fell in love with a Mark bikini a few months ago but because I live in Canada was unable to order it online (grr…). Luckily, I found an Avon salesperson through the retirement home I work at and today it arrived!

I’m at my coffee shop right now waiting for an appointment with my doctor, and it’s currently burning a hole in my purse waiting to be tried on … let’s hope my method of buying the bathing suit online and avoiding those degrading bathing suit store change rooms works. I’ll keep you updated! Mark has tons of cute, affordable stuff on their website and if the bathing suit goes over well I would definitely order more. I’ve got my eyes on a few other things on the website.

So dearest Mother Nature, I’ve got the bikini now how about you SEND ME SOME HOT WEATHER. Please. And thank you.

Looks like I’m always going to have to put tights on and a onesie on under her dresses.

In this huge room where you could get your hair and makeup done (which confused me, who comes to a Fashion Show without their hair and makeup done?), purchase clothes from the show, buy drinks, sit around and feel swanky, and partake in cool giveaways (we got Schtick razors and I won’t tell you what we did to get them but I will tell you that it was hilarious. Ask Lauren why her new nickname is Lauren Lightening Bolt.)

On to the show – Orange by Angela Chen

Lauren and I sat in the Media section, but fiveblondes.com wasn’t written on any of the seats (next year’s goal?) We pretended to be Sharp Magazine because they weren’t there.

Just a little photo op with the juice that was under all the seats unless you were lucky enough to be in the front row, who got some sort of swag bag (goal for two years from now?)

Although all of the seats were reserved not everyone attended. They missed out!

The clothes were all classic black and white pieces. I liked that it was all clothes that you could imagine regular people wearing. I never understand those fashion shows where no one would ever wear anything shown. What’s the point?

Least favourites:

Six of the looks were made of these knits.  I was not a fan. I thought they looked really frumpy compares to to all of the crisp outfits like the ones in my favourites section.

Speaking of new fashion trends I’m getting into, big/embellished shoulders is really one of them.  Before my drive to Toronto on Monday for the fashion show I stopped in Kingston to go to Urban Outfitters for a dress.  I actually ended up with 2 (thanks tax cheques!).  One being the one I wore to the show, and also this one.

Recently Tmo and I moved from the “problem house” in with one of my best friends for most of my life Emily.  So far it’s been good. Tmo is having a bit of trouble adjusting to living with a dog (remember Kardi?), they get in fights, Kardi eats her food, Tmo hides under the couch, you know, the usual.  Living with Emily again is pretty funny.  We both think the same things a lot, and are used to being around each other 24/7 from high school.  Today she made me supper (steak, corn and noodles), and in return I fed her mini eggs. Hopefully living here will be better than the old living arrangements!
