Baby #2- 20 Weeks Pregnant

Half way there!

Photo comparison up first:
week 2020 weeks

(Check out our new paint behind me! Its a dark grey accent wall and I love it so much.)

How far along?: 20w1d
How big is baby?: C antelope (HOLY COW) 6.5 inches long
Weight gain/loss?: no idea since we don’t own a scale and I don’t care that much. Next doctors appt is Feb 28.
Maternity clothes?: Still need to go look for jeans. My normal jeans are not as comfy anymore.
Sleep?: I have not been sleeping that great once 5:30am hits. From the time I fall asleep to then, I sleep in one position, from 5:30 – 6:30 I toss and turn dreading the sound of my alarm clock.
Food cravings?:  Hmmm not sure. Not really into food that much. Loving my nibs that Scott got me for Valentines day, after much hinting.
Movement?: yes, can’t wait until its constant enough so I can make other people feel too!
Belly button?: Looking weirder every day.
What are you looking forward to this week?: Buying our new van! Yup that’s right we are becoming a van family. Going from my little 2 door Cobalt to a nice and big van will be a welcomed change.

I bought an ergo carrier off BabySteals the otherday. It was my first ever purchase off there. I’m pretty excited to get it and try it out. Our stroller does not convert into a double stroller, like many of the snazzy strollers do these days. I’m kicking myself a bit now for not listening to advice to get a double stroller with your first. Right now we are thinking carrying one child and stroller for the other… we’ll see how long we last like that. I have been looking on kijiji as well but nothing has caught my eye yet.

Here’s a little Hailey update as well!

Fave view

Hailey got her 1 year shots and then the lucky girl came down with a case of the measles or something like that. Apparently 5% of kids who get that shot come down with them anywhere from 5-28 days after the shots. She got large red bumps on her back and stomach and a few on her forehead. She was a bit cranker then usual and had really long naps. I think she is finally back to normal and most of her spots are gone.

We are surviving being a mom working/Hailey at daycare family, better then I expected actually. Work feels like I never left and I think I’m fitting right in. Hailey is doing good at daycare, and only cries some days when I leave her there. I like that it’s a home daycare because it feels like she is part of their family, when I drop her off and pick her up the day care providers kids are there and I normally pass Hailey off to the daughter (I think she is in grade 8).

So that’s whats new with us right now. Seems like the fiveblondes are at a loss for words these days. Dear sisters… time to post!

Happy First Birthday Hailey!

One year ago at 3:30am I woke up feeling contractions for the first time ever and knew that this day my life would change, at 12:30pm Scott and I headed to the hospital and at 7:10pm our beautiful daughter Hailey was born!

1 year of growing

So much can change in a year. It’s amazing how much one little girl can learn and develop in such a short time period. We went from having a tiny little helpless newborn baby, to a wiggly then sitting baby, to a crawling getting into everything big girl and now we have a toddler who loves to walk/run everywhere!  At times I wish life would slow down and Hailey could be small for longer, but then I realize how much fun I’m having during each and every stage.

Scott and I went to Ottawa for 2 days and when we got back I swear she grew 3 inches! I know it’s not true, but just seeing the changes that happened over 2 days blew my mind. Every child I saw in Ottawa brought a smile to my face as I thought about Hailey and how excited I was to see her again, good thing we didn’t go away for longer.

Hailey’s first birthday party is next Sunday, I’m excited for our family and a couple friends, everyone who loves Hailey, to get together and celebrate her one year of life so far. Hailey brings a smile to so many people’s faces, I’m so lucky to have her as my daughter and I know she will be the best big sister when her new brother or sister comes in July.

1st birthday invite

On Monday we will start a new chapter in ours lives. Hailey will begin day care and I will return to work. I know it will be difficult, more for me then for Hailey, but I know once we get into the routine I will get through it and before I know it, it will be June/July and we can spend time together before the new baby arrives.

Happy Birthday Hailey! We love you very much!

We have a walker!

I’m so excited, Hailey took her first steps today!

This video is not of her first actual steps, but was taken minutes later, while practicing her skills!

I’m also so excited to be an AUNT this week! Stay tuned to hear if Mic has a girl or boy!!

Hailey- 11 Months

11 months

And at 10 months because I never posted it:
10 months
(I’m not that consistent with the photos, like colour wise and the look of the photo, but it’s getting hard to keep Hailey there and happy. This time I sang the ABCs over and over but could not get her to look at me and smile)

Things Hailey loves this month:

  • pointing at everything, especially with both hands but they will be pointed in opposite directions.
  • hugging! She loves to give hugs now, some are quick and some are really long. They melt me.
  • playing music on her fisher price barn and bopping to the music
  • Pressing her books that do things, like meowing or cackling like a witch. When she presses the button she will giggle and look at me or whoever is in the room to make sure we saw that she made the sound go. She gets so proud of herself.

Pointing

Hugging!

No walking yet, but Hailey is becoming so quick. She crawls away really fast and will quickly crawl to her push toy when she wants to go somewhere walking, like chasing the cats, she prefers to walk there, even though the cats are way faster and will be up and over the couch in a flash.

Pushing the laundry basket
Pushing a laundry basket is another way she likes to get around.

Teeth and hair!

Saturday will be Hailey’s first Christmas. I know she won’t understand what is happening but I’m sure she will have fun, she can be a little party animal.  I hope that we can squeeze naps in somewhere otherwise she can get a bit grumpy. We have one family Christmas on Christmas Eve and 4 stops to make on Christmas + church, luckily they are all within 15 min of eachother, although a longer drive would be perfect for a nap.

With santa

This month Hailey became a tooth monster. She has 5 teeth and I think 4 of them came just in the past month, 3 on the top and 2 on the bottom.  Her top teeth look so big in her little mouth. One more at the top is ready to pop through, but there is no sign of more on the bottom yet.

Next month I will have a year old baby!

Welcome to December

December won’t be as awesome as November on this blog, I mean we already missed one day of blogging and I’m sure will miss a few more here and there. I think we succeeded so well in November because we had a schedule and no one wanted to let the other sister down. With no schedule to blog, we let life take over (appropriately so) and blogging happens when inspiration strikes. Like right now!

Today was a funny day in the life of Hailey. I’ve heard of parents keeping journals of the funny things their children say/do and I think I need to start one for myself.

  • Hailey is really into finger food over purees. Today I cooked up some carrots/peas to give to her. For dinner I put them in a bowl and placed the bowl right on her tray. She looked at me with such awe and started laughing her head off and would touch the bowl and laugh and laugh. I never knew bowls were so funny.
  • Our stroller is a bit broken right now. The side straps pulled out of the fabric so we have it in the house so I would remember to call and figure out what I need to do with it (I have to bring it to the store and it has to get sent away. boo to that).  So the seat and the hood are in the living room, a fun new toy for Hailey. I watched her crawl into the seat that was laying on the ground (the hood was lying next to the seat) and thought it was cute. I went about doing something else and when I looked back she had pulled the hood over onto the seat. Just like if she was riding in the stroller. What a smart girl I have! Photos to prove that fact follow.

First where the hood was before Hailey got all smart. This is the first photo I have taken of a cat in months, poor neglected Chase, well by me at least Hailey loves to kiss him waaay too much (photo lower)
Where the hood was

My baby Hailey being cute after she pulled the hood over(/grumpy, but wouldn’t you be too with 2 new teeth coming in at once?)
Grumpy baby

That’s the end of the cute stories, here are more cute photos.

Hailey kissing dad under the hood.
Kissing under the hood

This girl loves her cats. She also loves to open mouth kiss Chase. Gross I know, but I have no idea how to get her to stop trying.,
Kisses for the kitty cat

Hailey is getting so close to walking. She will stand lots now, so we try to coerce her to walk to us, but she will either reach as far as she can without moving her feet, or will slowly sit down. I really don’t think it will be long. Also one sock FTW. Put two socks on this girl and she will have one off before you know it. She gets more traction that way.

We have a double digits baby!

Hailey is crawling allll over the house. Getting into all our cabinets, the pantry and today found the cactus-es that my Oma & Opa left here. Time to get rid of them, anyone want a cactus?

Toys do not seem to entertain her for long. She flits from one to the next, which I hear is normal for this age. Her current favourites that keep her entertained the longest are party/beer cups and shapes and barn from her shape sorter.  She also likes to walk with her push walker toy.

This month Hailey got her FIRST tooth! She’s a one tooth wonder now. Turns out what I thought was her 4th cold was nose running because she had a tooth ready to pop up. No sign of any other teeth, but the one she has did pop up all of a sudden.  BUT now as I finish this today, I noticed another tooth popping out of the top gum. It looks like it hurts, and I can tell also because shes whining a lot and not napping very well. I hope it stops hurting her soon.

We took a trip to Ottawa this month, it was the farthest Hailey has traveled. She did great, other then napping in her pack and play. Naps were taken in the car seat, stroller and carrier, but never in her pack and play. She’s just not used to it enough to sleep in there. She got really great at going from person to person even new people that she had never met before. Hailey also had her first trip into Quebec, to Gatineau park and her first ride on a city bus.

Hailey loves reading her books. To keep her occupied during church we bring books and they keep her very entertained. The people sitting behind also help, but I’m always grateful to have remembered the books.  She loves to play in her room and pull all the books off the shelf, and I love the bit of downtime it gives me to sit in the chair and watch her play.

Hailey is crusing all around with the furniture and pulling up on everything. My little girl will be 1 and walking before we know it!

Road trip to Ottawa

I feel like I’m living like a university student right now, but I have a kid.

(looks like she took a chomp out of the coffee table, but really the dog did that)

I finally made the trip and got to Ottawa. It’s the farthest Hailey has ever been from home. We’re having fun staying with Lauren (other then the dog waking Hailey up from her sleep) and touring around with my aunts who we drove up here with. The weather has been perfect, we even had a picnic on the beach in Ottawa yesterday, mind you we were definitely not in swim suits. Today I’m hoping to meet up with a university friend, visit the parliament buildings, maybe do a hike, go for dinner and then head back to Toronto and then tomorrow all the way home.

This is a pretty short post because Hailey is feeling a bit grumpy this morning so we are going to get a move on. Happy Saturday!

My lizard

I think I mentioned in my last post about Hailey, some cute things she was doing. I captured her lizard tongue on camera today, she also laughs when I laugh, which is another thing she loves doing lately. I just love her to pieces. One more cute thing is when she eats she says mmmmm. I say it to try and convince her that she likes it (even though she doesn’t know that saying mmm means you like it).

May I also mention that Daylight Savings Time is kicking Hailey’s butt. Poor girl does not know what is going on. She slept over at my in-laws on Sat night and went to bed late at around 8:15pm and woke up at 6:30am. Last night I put her down at 7:30pm our normal time and I expected a normal 7:30am wake up. Hailey woke up at 6am and started yelling and talking. I am not okay with a 6am wake up, so hopefully she figures out that she needs to sleep longer!

RAWRRR

Happy Halloween!

Hailey the lionCostume info here.

Ps Did you know Fiveblondes will be posting EVERYDAY for the month of November? Hold on to you hats cats!

9 Months

9 months

We finally have a crawler! I was sure that Hailey would never crawl, and would probably go straight to walking. She didn’t really show any signs of trying to crawl. Then all of a sudden up she went on her hands and feet, and later on her hands and knees when she finally got herself figured out.  She’s been crawling for a week now and I love it, she does too. Now she is better at entertaining herself for longer, but now she does get into more things. We realllly need to babyproof now.

Hailey is standing while holding on to furniture and cruising now a bit as well. She will walk behind her push toy until she runs into walls or other toys. Then shes down on her bum and crawling away.

pulling up

Hailey now has her 4th cold. Her last cold lasted 2 weeks, we had 2 weeks off and then BOOM on Sunday we wake up and Hailey has a runny nose and is sneezing. Not fun. It even kept her and me up from 10 pm – almost 4am one night. Not fun at all. Lots of crying and no comfort for poor Hailey.

cutie

Naps are still hard. When I put her in the crib there is instant crying. When she quiets down I know it’s not because she’s sleeping but merely because she is crawling around and finding a corner to pull up in. Good thing we lowered her crib before she started pulling up.  I have to go in a couple times lay her down again and wait for her to quiet down then check that she’s sleeping and can basically start the timer for 50 min and she will be up crying for me to rescue her.

Helping with laundry

She’s babbling like crazy and has added to her repertoire a bit, including ya ya da da sorta sounds.

Some days she loves to eat and others she doesn’t. She will eat almost everything I give her. Now we are introducing egg yolks but she doesn’t really like them.  She loves rice rusks (mum mums) and puffs.

Hailey is now 20lbs 11oz and 28.5 inches long (she’s grown 8 inches since she was born!)

Happy 9 months Hailey!
