It’s Fall Fair Time!

Parade Waving

We had our town’s fall fair last weekend and the weather was perfect.

Friday it POURED all day, buckets and buckets, I thought weather was doomed for the weekend. Saturday we woke up to sun and it stuck around all weekend. Lucky once again!

Hailey got to experience some firsts- first pony ride, and first ‘roller coaster’ ride. It pained me to shell out the outrageous prices they charge to get on the rides, but it was worth it to see her face on the rides(and my mom’s and Scott’s as you will see below).

I think mom enjoyed the ride as much as Hailey did! See her holding on for dear life? Or maybe she’s just trying not to squish Hailey.

On Sunday we entered the Baby Show. Casey won Best Dimples and Brianna won Best Bubble Blower. It’s an everyone wins a prize competition. No baby pageant outfits here, just good old fashion fun.

Someone get this girl a modelling contract

… not really, but I think she is pretty darn cute!

We recently did a clothing for photos exchange and these are some of the cute shots I took of Hailey.  Our first time taking the photos she was really into it, later on not so much, so it took a few tries to get a variety of shots and to show off the clothes the best. Scott was our assistant and he was pretty good at it. I think I’ll hire him.

I never really post videos of Hailey but she does some pretty funny stuff. Here’s a super short video of her ‘fast feet’ scurry thing. If she’s in the mood you just say Hailey fast feet and she will lift her feet up and down really fast.

Another hilariously cute video. It was all I could do to stop from bursting out laughing. Make sure you have your sound on for this one because it’s Hailey’s silly sounds that make the video for me.

We got Hailey’s baby photos taken yesterday and already got some back!

The family that just keeps on growing…

Last weekend I came for Thanksgiving to an amazing surprise! Well, it wasn’t a surprise per se, since I kind of heard about it a couple of days earlier, but I was excited to see this new addition to our ever growing family!  Now we’ve had dogs before, we started with Clara when I was a baby, and we had Clara for about 10 years.  Clara was an awesome dog, and was also the child of our Oma’s dog Sammy, who was the child of Oma’s dog Sammy! ( I edited this. Apparently Rags was Clara’s DogOma)

Yes, that is me being puppy loved by Clara and her brothers and sisters! :) After Clara died we had a couple more dogs that we had from puppies, and honestly? Puppies and farms do not mix…and that’s all I’ll say about that.

At Christmas Micaela decided that she wanted to get a dog for Dad.  She wanted a DOG though, not a puppy, since we’re not looking to train on our farm.  We went to the London Humane Society to look at some dogs in the Fall, but didn’t end up getting one.

Last weekend I came home to a very happy dog named Waldo (aka Wallie, puppy or pappy).  Waldo is a 7 year old (we think) Beagle who loves walking outside, cuddling, kissing and teasing the cats.  He is very chill and will just wander around our house and sit with us.  Mom really likes him because she thinks the cats don’t like her, but Waldo definitely loves her.  He whines when she’s not around, and in a big group, he’ll choose to sit near her.  He will also let me jump with him in my arms!

Here are some pictures from our Thanksgiving weekend!

Playing Photographer

My cousin Lara is a big supporter of my photography habit.  And this past summer and got me to take some photos of a group of her friends and to take some engagement photos.  This was my first time getting ‘hired’ to take photos of someone else, and Lara really put me at ease! She had great ideas for poses and I think together we managed to get some good shots.  Plus she paid me in a massage (she works as a massage therapist), which is always a plus in my books!

Lara is getting married on a cruise in March, which means that Scott and I can’t go because we’ll have a newborn baby on our hands.  I’m sad that we can’t go but I’m happy that we got the opportunity to take some photos of them, and maybe when they get back we can take some ‘after the weddding’ shots!

Here’s a small sampling of some of the engagement photos and friends photos:

Long time no talk

The time came and past a long while ago when I was due to update this blog. I’ve been slacking, majorly.  What can I say, I’ve been busy with lots on my mind and working hard.

So what better way to come back and win you over then a blog with photos! Because a photo represents a 1000 words and boy I’ve got lots of photos!

On the weekend Erica, Denis, Scott and I went to Toronto to see the Blue Jays play and to visit with Micaela and Kent! First up was the baseball game which sadly they lost. Boo!! But the highlight of the game was when we were on the jumbotron! For all of 5 seconds, too fast for me to take a photo.  I think they were spying on me taking photos of Micaela and wanted in on the action.

Next we met up with Kent’s sister and brother-in-law and checked out Woof-fest, a dog festival on the streets of downtown Toronto.  There were dogs EVERYWHERE, and dog products everywhere. From dog strollers (???) to dog carriers and toys, to dog photo shoots and paintings. You name it for your dog and they probably had it. Too bad I’m not that big of a dog fan.

After we were sick of dogs we went out for a nice pub style dinner on a patio and headed back to Mic and Kent’s apartment to get ready for our drive home. It was a nice day trip to Toronto.

Then on Sunday I had a very exciting first. My cousin ‘hired’ me to take photos of her and her friends! We went to beautiful St. Marys, had great weather and got some nice photos for them. Here’s a teaser for you Lara!

Spring came.. then left

Sunday was a great spring day! We had Erica’s second wedding shower (thrown by Den’s wonderful Aunt Patty! a faithful reader of the blog) and then we went touring to find a location for her wedding day photos!

First we went to a local railroad track, we were sent there by a local wedding photographer. Sadly this did not work out so well because of a few crazy neigbours. We won’t be going back there, but at least I got a few neat shots.

And then mom brought us to the site of an old barn, which Erica loved and picked it for her photo location.  Last I heard anyways.

And when I got home the spring flowers were just calling for some photos, so of course I obliged.  I am so happy spring is here. Finally more exciting photo taking opportunities then just snow snow and more snow.

And then just when I thought we were in the clear and would be getting no more snow.. guess what I woke up to, SNOW.  Poor flowers, now they are snow covered.

What I'm loving.

Micaela here. A few things I’ve been loving for the last month:

  • Anna Turns Six on Tarawhitney.com. A beautiful tribute to this photographer’s daughter.
  • I cut these shoes out of a magazine because I loved them so much, and then my favourite fashion blogger found a $69 version. (Fate.)
  • Maybe it’s partially the fact that I have been dying for really long hair lately, but there is something about Madeleine M. that I adore:
  • The bedroom at This Young House. I love so many interior design photos I’ve seen on blogs recently. It’s a shame, really, because I have no permanent residence to decorate at the moment. I love the chandelier, the lamps, and the huge curtains. And well, everything:
  • Most definitely the cutest daddy-to-be in the world! (Uh oh, mothering instincts quite possibly kicking in too!):
  • Youaremyfave.com has been focusing on a different design accent colour every day. The pictures she finds are so gorgeous that each colour quickly becomes my new favourite. Today, orange is our fave. Photo from where else but Apartment Therapy.
    guest20bedroom_small
  • And a couple that I tweeted about yesterday:
  • I saw this shirt on Design Crush today. The French: Moi, je veux te dire que je ne te quitterai jamais. Et puis, si tu es triste, je pourrais toujours te donner un peu d’alcool pour te rechauffer le couer. xo Basically this means that “I’ll be there for you always. And I’ll get you drunk when you’re sad.” Get it on etsy.
  • Peonies and Polaroids received this dress and a fancy camera from her husband on their one year anniversary. I am tres impressed. If you are inclined, check out her wedding in her archives (about one year ago!) It was perfect.
  • This wedding wins my heart. I’m having a tent wedding in 148 days (according to facebook.)

Tuesdays With Micaela ~ My engagement photos

A couple of months ago I blogged about Winter Engagement Photos and trying to come up with ideas for our own. On what I’m pretty sure was the coldest day in January, Kent and I had ours taken in our cute little town. We ended up being really happy with our photographer, Dana Harper. She only made me wait four days for the pictures! Any girl can appreciate that. I chose 30 of my favourites out of the 300 she sent me, and she edited them for us. When Kent and I are together we always have lots of fun and are constantly trying to make each other laugh and I think Dana did a good job of capturing that.

Here are the results:

If you would like to see the rest, visit my brand new Flickr page at micblonde. I am quite excited to have my own Flickr.

We are going to have a signature frame like this one as our guestbook:

Katelyn and her husband Scott did this and I like the fact that it is up on their wall and always up on display, rather than on a bookshelf collecting dust. Whenever new people come to her house they always look at it right away. Sooo, if you get a chance to look at all of them let me know your favourite. Hope you like!

To Kentucky and Back (2)

Continuing from my first post about the trip to Louisville (see it here)

Finally Saturday arrived (Valentines Day), our first day of sightseeing!  We had a great breakfast at the hotel (mmm waffles and breakfast sandwiches, every morning.) and went walking to the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory.  The museum itself was under construction, which was fine with me because I don’t really care that much about the history.  We got to take a tour of the factory and got a free mini bat after the tour.  And took an obligatory jumping photo in front of the World’s Biggest Baseball Bat.
