Ever since Hailey was born I have been having one reoccurring and really weird nightmare. It can happen at any time of the night and or day, whenever I am sleeping. I’m think it is the result of being overtired.

Here’s how it plays out.

I am sleeping, but think I am feeding Hailey. I half wake up and think that I feel her leg and then try to find the rest of her body, because in my mind I was feeding her but we both fell asleep and now I can’t find her! I will literally throw away all pillows and blankets to find the baby and then wake up allt he way to realize that I was dreaming and I wasn’t actually feeding her.

Everytime I’m sleeping and wake up this is how I am woken up. It gives me such anxiety.

Last night I was treated to a new nightmare. I dreamed that I had been feeding Hailey and put her down to sleep in the living room but then I woke up and there was blankets and spit-up all over her face, so I freaked out and jumped off the couch.  Except I actually did this: I jumped out of my BED and thought in my sleepy state that I was in the living room and started freaking out because I couldn’t find the light switch and my baby was suffocating but I couldn’t see her to find her! I ran into my dresser, had no idea where I was and almost fell over. This woke Scott up and I’m pretty sure he thought I was crazy. It took me a bit to realize that I was a) actually in my bedroom and b) Hailey was sleeping soundly in her cradle at the foot of our bed.

On the weekend Scott and I finally were able to head out with Erica and D for our first golf game of the year. There was a 40% chance of rain, but the sky was looking pretty clear during the day so we braved the weather and headed to our favourite free golf course ( free because, well our family owns it, pretty sweet!). Scott and I got there a bit early to practice our putting and chips, I was sucking pretty badly already! We got some fries before the game and headed out to the first tee to tee off at around 3:15.

Our first shots weren’t great (well except for Erica’s whose went perfectly down the pretty fairway), and I zig-zagged along the first hole and landed in a large bunker, from which I had a great rescue shot! However the sky started getting dark, and we began hearing lots of rumbles of thunder!

Look how pretty the aprons on this green are, I used to work as a greens maintenance worker at this course, so basically I know this course backwards, forwards and inside out.

Here’s where things start getting sketchy… Erica and I begin to see large things falling from the sky and bouncing on the ground. It’s hail! We told the guys, but they didn’t really believe us, so we continued at #2, teeing off.

We walked over the little bridge to continue the hole and it started hailing, a lot! We didn’t know what to do, run to the fox-hole (ie. place to get drinks/snacks in the middle of the course) or to run back the club house. We chose the club house and started running through the hail with our clubs upon our backs. It’s so hard to run with golf clubs on your back! Erica, D and I were slowing down, because of a combination of being so tired from running, and getting beat up from the hail. D decided the best idea would be to drop our clubs and run, and I was all for it because at this point I thought I was going to fall down on the course and die because of how hard the hail was hitting us! Scott being the gentleman he is drove out in a cart in the hail after we got back to the club house to get all of our clubs because he didn’t want to stick around after that. We were SOAKED and hurting like crazy!! The grass of the course was covered with hail while we were running back but I couldn’t concentrate enough to take a picture because it hurt so badly.

It is now Monday and I have all these little dime sized bruises on my legs. It looked like someone continuously poked me without stopping.

So hopefully next time we go golfing we get to play more than 1.5 holes, and don’t get pelted with hail. What is with the weather lately?!

At work I felt as though the day was crawling by, nothing too abnormal for me though. At 1:40PM I called my cousin’s work to sign up for a Yoga class, but no one answered and their machine said that they work M W F, 10AM-2PM, I thought it was weird that no one answered, but let it go and decided to try again on Friday. As 5 o’clock neared I noticed that it seemed to be getting very dark! Finally 5 o’clock arrived! I changed into my barn clothes to drive to the barn and do chores and jumped in the car and started driving. Then I looked at the clock… 6PM! What the heck? No wonder my day took forever, I was at work for 9 hours instead of 8! I actually had to say to myself, 9-5 to remind me that I normally work until 5PM and not 6PM. My computer at work had somehow during the day reverted back 1 hour, how that happens I have no idea, and I know that when I started work that day it said 9am. Plus I checked the clock this morning to make sure I wasn’t crazy, and it said 8am, when it was really 9am. Let’s just say I’ve been checking my watch a lot today..

Needless to say on Friday I will be leaving work an hour early.. Silly silly me.

If you see the umm naked lady spinning clockwise then you are right-brained

If you see the lady spinning counter-clockwise then you are left-brained.

I see her spin counter-clockwise.  I can’t wait to see Scott and see what way he sees her spin.  Apparently some people can get her to switch.  Sometimes if I only look at her legs they go clockwise for one rotation but then it’s back to counter-clockwise.  Man I think I could stare at this for the rest of my day.

EDIT: I just saw her WHOLE BODY go clockwise for 3 roatations, then it was back to counter-clockwise.. I guess that means I am MOSTLY left-brained and a bit right-brained, but not when I want to be.

OK, it’s The Onion, but isn’t there some truth to it?  As a society, we have soooo much stuff!  I have things I can’t bear to throw away, although I have no idea where/when I got it.  Then, when I do decide to throw it away, I feel guilty for helping fill some landfill somewhere.

 ”I hear that Americans can buy anything they want, and I believe it, judging from the things I’ve made for them,” Chen said. “And I also hear that, when they no longer want an item, they simply throw it away. So wasteful and contemptible.”

Essentially…yes. Unless it can be sold on E-bay.  Which creates packaging waste and has a bigger carbon footprint than you might imagine, considering the exhaust from vehicles used to transport the item to its destination.

Maybe it’s time to simplify.
