A bookshelf makeover.

I’ve been so inspired by the many do-it-yourself blogs that I read lately (you can find a lot of them in my links section) and I’ve been doing a little do-it-yourselfing of my own lately. My most recent makeover was this old, ugly, fake wood bookcase that miraculously made the move all the way to Toronto with us last year:

After some sanding and a couple coats of paint it’s now a whole new woman:

The cost of this project was just some sandpaper and paint that I already owned. Not too shabby!

Agreed! That lamp is beautiful!! Where did you get it?
Of course the book shelf is awesome now! I can’t believe it was so cheap to re do! Be honest- how much elbow grease did you need to sand it? I’m a wuss.

Beaut! I have this little kid’s dresser that my parents bought at an auction for $10 10 years ago. I’ve since painted it twice, changed the hardware and used it as MANY things.

With bookcases, I like painting the back part the same colour as the wall (if possible). BOOM, built in shelving :)
