Art Project – Decorative Fabric Wall Panels

When I saw the post on How About Orange with directions on how to make a fabric panel wall hanging I know I’d have to try it.. In fact I just finished my 2nd one! It’s such a cheap and EASY way to add some colour or art to your home!

This is the first one I made for my house. On How About Orange, Jessica used art frames to stretch canvas, I couldn’t find any, anywhere. So I enlisted the assistance of my helpful husband and we made the frames ourselves out of wood we bought at home depot (LOVE that place, it deserves another post of it’s own).

That’s was taken at my parents house, before I hung it at home obviously.

And the 2nd one I just finished for Micaela and Kent’s house. She hasn’t even seen it yet! Here it is hung up on my wall at home.

These were so easy and quick to make. I would highly suggest it, if you are looking for a cheap art project!

Very Ikea! (and I mean that as a sincere compliment)

Yes it is very Ikea (thus brilliant). I keep having to remind myself that you guys are in London because in downtown Toronto there are so many art shops to buy canvas frames from you’d go dizzy!

Gorgeous work. Can’t wait to have a house of my own so I can start painting again.

Probably the reason you think it is IKEA like is because the fabric Mic chose (the 2nd one) is from IKEA!

I think we might have found art frames if we had gone downtown London to an art store but I really thought Michaels would have some, they didn’t and let me down.

Oooh, yes downtown there is an art shop (beside Moksha Yoga) but there is also a shop at Oxford and Adelaide. If you go take me!! Love Mic’s hanging.

This is such a simple idea — one that you could change at will because it’s so easy and cheap. I’ve seen something similar done with squares of wallpaper in frames.

I absolutely love this idea. Where did you find the fabric?

Cheers!

Great idea! I especially like the part where you get your man involved to save money and work on a project together.

The black and white fabric is from Fabricland and the tree fabric is from IKEA.

The best fabric to choose is heavy drapery fabric.

Very unique, although you do look simple but looks beautiful, can fill an empty wall that impressed.
