Nursery Progress

in Scott & Kate Plus One, decorating

The nursery is stuck right where it was 2 weeks ago- it’s half painted.  Scott did a bit of progress by painting the ceiling, so now it’s a bright white.  But the walls still need another coat.  We still have about 7 weeks to go, and I just can’t wait to see it all come together.  Today my mom-in-law is coming over to help me finish painting (Scott’s calling her my babysitter).

I threw together an idea board for the nursery, basically incorporating everything we have, and have planned for the nursery.

nursery boarda1. Fabric:

Floral-for the curtains- with a bit of gingham at the bottom

Gingham- for the crib skirt

Blue- for a blind on the windows

2. Crib- the colour of ours is a cherry, but that’s basically what it looks like.

3. Glider- basically looks like that

4. Alphabet Prints- I knew all along that I wanted to incorporate the alphabet in the nursery.  Now I need to decide if I want to use them as a sort of border around the room or spell out words.  Our boy name repeats a letter so that’s out, but our girl name has no repeating letters, so if raspberry is a girl I’m thinking that will be my choice.

5. Dresser- Mom bought an old dresser at an auction sale and really wants me to use it and paint it yellow (she’s obsessed, yes mom I said obsessed, with yellow).  I think it’s a cute idea but I really think I have my heart set on a long dresser (like the one in the idea board) because I would want to use it as a change table as well.

So here’s my next board- with a different dresser, one I have showed before:

nursery boardbThis one has a different dresser. The IKEA one.  I previously liked it in brown, but since the walls are brown I don’t think it would work, so now I’m thinking of the white option.

I also think I want to put a nice area rug in the room, and I’m leaning towards green, my favourite colour.  But I’m just not sure how the green in this rug will look with the gingham green.

Any thoughts?

I love the glider! My sister babysits for a family with one of those and they’re super comfortable!

I think you should look at Wal-Mart for an area rug too, I don’t support shopping at Wal-Mar, but they do have really nice rugs.

I think the nursery is going to be beautiful! I love the flowery fabric. So classic.

haha mom IS obsessed with yellow! At Len’s Mill’s she would only choose yellow fabrics. I like the alphabet! I have that awesome name puzzle with animals on it that I loove! We got it from Home County I think.

I like your idea collages! I should do that because I feel like I have lots of ideas but its hard to bring them all together. I really like the dresser in the top collage, but I am probably obsessed with antique white like your mom is obsessed with yellow :)

I thought you guys went to Ikea in the states to get that dresser? Didn’t get it? We can go to Ikea next weekend if you want.

I looove white! I support getting it in white. Especially because the dresser mom wants to give to you was actually supposed to be mine! :)

I think it will look fabulous when its done. I like the while dresser in the second picture, it will brighten up the room and move easily to an older child, then teen room.

ooooh, the rug choice is SUCH a big one. Good luck with that! You know my love for the ikea rugs:)

And I think I like the yellow dresser idea best, actually. Like I said, the Ikea dresser in person didn’t impress me that much…did you get to see it yet?

So exciting! Love the boards.
