This deserves a blog post more than anything we’ve ever posted, I think.
Today (January 18th) is our Oma and Opa’s 50th wedding anniversary. That’s right, their GOLD wedding anniversary!
Tonight we are getting together with our family (or the members of our family who are available) to celebrate by attending mass and just having a get-together at our aunt Lynda and uncle Jerry’s house. Then, this summer there’s going to be a huge party!
Although I can’t find a recent picture of the two of them (together) – and I scoured Facebook photo albums of all of my relatives – I do have a vintage picture from over 50 years ago, when they were still dating.
Opa doesn’t ride motorcycles anymore, but he still has a wild streak! Oma is very talented when it comes to sewing and quilting – she spent hours hand-beading Katelyn’s wedding dress!
I’m sure they’ll see this post (they’re online, like all COOL grandparents!), so I’m taking this opportunity to say that WE LOVE YOU! You are an inspiration to all of your grandchildren who are now just beginning married their married lives, or will soon be. Here’s to many more years!

wow!that’s such a milestone. Congratulations to Opa & Oma I really admire married couples staying together that long. Hopefully,me and hubby will celebrate that special moment, too! Must be lots of hardwork LOLS – but true, ei? My grandparents reached 75yrs. Huge feat!
