Baby Legs

Babies legs are just about the cutest things ever. They are so rolly polly and just adorable.  What better way to cover them up that with some baby leggings! Baby Legs is a company that makes these cute leggings but I (along with many other mothers out there) found that you can make them really cheaply.

What you need:

A pair of ladies knee socks in a cute pattern

Scissors

Thats it.

(I do this the easy way, there are other ways that involve sewing but seeing as I am not as talented on a sewing machine as my mother, this way works fine.)

All you need to do it take the sock and cut above the foot portion of the sock and you are finished. The bottom end rolls up a bit (as you can see on the one above because Hailey has already been wearing them) and doesn’t fray at all.

I found really cheap socks a pack of 2 for $5 and bought 2 different packs. So I paid $10 for 4 pairs and buying them it costs around $18. We do have 1 pair of real Baby Legs that Hailey received as a gift and I think they stay up a bit better, than the homemade ones but there’s not really a huge difference.

Hailey update:

She’s getting really great at sleeping- averaging about 6 hours a night-from 10-4 than she wakes up for a feed and goes back down from about 4:40-7. I feel a lot more rested now- still a bit sleepy during the day but it’s so much nicer than before. She still loves to nap during the day, but started doing this weird wake up and scream after 20 min, I’d have to go in and rock her back to sleep and would sleep for a bit longer. Her 6 week growth spurt was horrible. A few days full of crying and eating constantly (I felt like my shirt was off all day long), and now that we are over the growth spurt I feel like we can concur anything!

Hailey LOVES bath time, and sleeps really well after them. She’s playing a bit more now, we have a little play mat for her and I bought her a lamaze horse (Trotter the pony) which she loves.

Hailey is 6.5 weeks old. Shes up to 11 lbs 8 oz and is 23 inches long. She’s in the 75-90 percentile for her age.

She’s growing like a weed and having lots of fun!

If there were any related posts we'd list 'em here...but this one is pretty unique!

I ADORE baby legs, and when our little man is born I plan on using them every chance I get. I never thought of making them myself! I love it!

Hailey is absolutely lovely. Just out of curiosity, have you tried out the cloth diapers, yet?

We’ve tried out the diaper just to see if they fit and they are still a bit big (got some leaking out the side). I’ll have to make a post when we start using them to let you know how it is going)

Awesome idea! We have one pair of baby legs but they are so darn expensive, and hard to find in ‘boyish’ styles. Now I’m all about looking at knee socks to make more!

and Hailey is just a doll. Glad to hear your routine is working out…can’t wait for one of those:)

I’ve also heard that those baby legs come in handy when they start to crawl- it saves the knees on clothing from getting worn out

What a fantastic idea, making Baby Legs yourself! We got a pair when my daughter was a little older and starting to crawl everywhere. They saved her knees anytime she was wearing tights or thin leggings. Now I’m going to go out and find some cute knee socks to make her some more!

Your daughter is entirely TOO precious! I found that right around 6-8 weeks mine started sleeping a lot longer at night. Hope you get the same experience. :)

Her legs are pretty cute, but her arms are my favourite. I may have looked at every picture of her on Flickr the other day… maybe now I’ll go look at every picture of her on Facebook.

I love baby legs. I haven’t made any yet but now I am feeling inspired. Hopefully they will stay up a little better on 7 month old chunky legs.

She is simply adorable and what a great idea!

As someone who has babysat for about 14 years now, I imagine these are great for diaper changes. No more sleepers to undo and pull legs out of and make the baby colder than needed so it screams the entire time. When I have babies some day, I WILL be making a bunch of these. Thanks for showing us how!

Great idea! I’ll keep that in mind if the next baby is a girl whenever that may be. Btw, you’re doing a great job as a mommy and so happy Hailey is on a good sleeping schedule now!!!! That is a great bonus for sleep for you!
