Wedding Shoes

My life has been consumed by all things wedding this year, and the fun didn’t stop with Erica’s wedding – we still have Micaela’s wedding coming up in August. One thing that brides are doing these days is going with funky shoes – not traditional white shoes, but shoes that they love, shoes that make them feel good, shoes that make them want to jump for joy (but they can’t because their ankles might break). The lovely purple examples are our very own Erica, as well as another wonderful blogger, Kasia Fink.

Also we have the amazingly stylish and lovely Tiffany, who wore beautiful silver Gucci’s:

Also, the lovely Budget Savvy Bride wore these hot blue shoes (which I kind of want in every colour) when she got married the same day as our Erica:

While I think each of those examples of colourful wedding shoes are adorable and fun, I have been thinking that I want to wear white shoes on my wedding day. I have no idea why, as I am generally not a super traditional person, but to me, there is just something about wearing white shoes at a wedding.

Here is my choice:

Likely, I will change my mind about eleventy billion times before my wedding … wait I am talking as if I have a wedding being planned. If and when I choose to get married … my mind will likely have changed eleventy billion times. There.

What do you think? For those of you who are married, did you have funky, awesome colourful shoes? Or maybe some funky, awesome white shoes? Or no shoes?

Also – Please note that I found those white shoes on heels.com, which has amazing shoes for all occassions (and budgets). I was browsing the site after I added them on Twitter today, and then they DM’ed me with a special Twitter discount to use on the site. Add them on Twitter to get your discount – http://twitter.com/highheels. It’s worth it!

I wish i had gone with what i 1st wanted.. flip flops.. haha, but instead i did the white open toe 2-3 inch heel that KILLED my feet.. but its because my parents went down to somewhere in New York to get them because i fell in love with them online.. ( not as nice in person.. haha )
I would totally do a lot of things differently the more i think of my actual wedding..

    I’m strongly thinking about flats.
This blog confuses me because I remember you saying at Erica’s wedding that you don’t know why people take pictures of their wedding shoes. It appears you have more than come around.

I love the idea of adding a dash of colours!

For my sister’s wedding, shortly into the reception she changed into a comfy pair of shoes – white keds, which she had decorated with puffy paint the words “bride” on the back. They were really cute, and they allowed her to dance comfortably!

I like the funky purple shoes! I totally think that is something I might do, I don’t know. As of right now, I’m favoring the idea of going barefoot. But hey, like you said, my mind will change over and over again before I actual plan a wedding!

Those are the shoes I’m wearing to my wedding! I just love my dress and don’t want to out shine it with the shoes.

Thanks for the shout out, dahling! I lurv my purple shoes and the best part is that I know I will wear them over and over (and already have!). White shoes can be just as great… you can always dye them after your wedding and keep right on dancin’.

  13. Tiffany says:

thanks for featuring my lovely shoes :)

my dress was ivory and I’m not one to go for ivory shoes so silver was my choice! I might have done brighter shoes if my dress was white but I think white shoes are just as beautiful too!

  14. sD says:

but can you REALLY dye them? I bought ivory shoes and thought about dying them blue to be my something blue… but what if they dye rubs off on the dress?! Has anyone actually dyed a pair of shoes or know where to get it done? I wonder if it’s just an urban myth…

  15. Colourful wedding shoes??? It’s smart, but I prefer classical white for such occasion.

  16. I love the wedding shoes you chose! I’m so obsessed I look at shoes all day! Check out some of mine on my blog: http://www.weddingfeet.com/married

  17. Laura says:

I wore white knock off Sketchers from Walmart, you know the ones with the lace inlay and the z strap on the top that were so popular 2 years ago. During the reception, I switched into my ratty old bright red flip flops after the runners started to rub. I hate heels!

  18. Sarah says:

I am wearing fabulous red Scottish tartan flats (classic Royal Stewart, red plaid with white, green, gold and blue threads) for my wedding in May 2010. I’ve got all-Scottish heritage and I am marrying into a huge German family, so I figured I would pay homage to my Scottish roots! I broke my foot a few years ago, so heels were never an option. They are so cute… can’t wait for the dress fittings. :)

  19. WeddingFlipFlops.us – The new trend these days is not high heels but elegant or snazzy flip flops that compliment your dress. And why not have comfort for your feet that you’ll be on all day long!

  20. Rachel says:

I absolutely LOVE the look of those purple shoes peeking out from under Erica’s dress!
The latest trend is purple or blue wedding shoes, to use that as your “something BLUE!” How cute right!?

If you’re interested, check out my favorite of blue Luichiny ribbon heels at ShoeMall. If I were getting married, I would wear these!

We’re running lots of fun promotions through the holiday season. Hopefully if you’re readers are interested they can find some great deals on some great blue or other fun color shoes for their wedding!

  21. I LOVE the purple shoes!

@sD: Yes, you can dye the ivory shoes blue and not worry about the dye wearing off. Any shoe repair shop or bridal shop can do a professional job for about $15.

  22. fashion says:

The shoes are lovely. My favorite pair is the silver Gucci. Looks classic and elegant. Congrats on the weddings! :D
