August 23, 2010 = Hailey is 7 months old (30 weeks)!

I love the age that Hailey is at. She is capable of so much, yet still does not move, so I don’t have to run around after her. Instead of obsessing over the fact that Hailey hardly ever rolls over and is not crawling yet, I will count my blessings that I have a healthy baby who enjoys sitting and playing in one spot. In due time it will come. I mean look how strong she is getting, pushing up on her hands.

Hailey is getting solids twice day right now. If I had written this last week I would have said that she does not like solids. However something changed and now she loves eating solids. I would almost equate the difficulty of trying to get Hailey to eat solids with learning how to breastfeed. But we got it all figured out and now Hailey loves everything she eats. She’s had rice cereal, oatmeal, carrots, peaches, peas, squash, pears, plums and probably things I am forgetting.
She still needs lots of naps throughout the day, but some of her naps are getting shorter and she is getting better at being up for longer stretches of time (about 2 hours). She is still swaddled for bedtime and naps.

{“mom why am I in a laundry basket?”}
The silly faces that she is making now are so cute. She does this thing where she purses her lips pulls them up to her nose, kind of like a bunny and breathes in and out really hard. Scott and I call it her fighting face because it looks like she is really mad at someone and wants to fight (she does it in the video above). She also keeps her hands in fists at her chest a lot, so she looks like she is ready to punch us. Another of my favourite poses of hers is to put both hands on the handle of the carrier, holding on for dear life! Lau and I yell “HOLD ON” whenever she does it.
Hailey is a very interested baby. She looks at everything and watches like a hawk for new things. She loves to watch the cats in the house and will see them walk behind me and will look around my other side to see them continue walking. Such a smart girl. She notices now when you take something for her, especially when is is something you don’t want her to have. We are also venturing into attachment right now, if I or Scott leave the room at home she will start crying/whining. That’s not so fun.

{Pretty sure she looks like a toddler in this photo! Hailey you are only 7 months old, slow down!}
Hailey is starting to be really vocal, we have yet to hear the babbling (bababa dadad mamama) but she certainly likes to talk. In church she enjoys yelling when everyone is silent, making my whole family laugh, which we obviously will have to put a stop to later on, but now she’s too young to realize that she shouldn’t be doing it.
As for length and weight, I measured her this morning and I *think* she is about 27 inches (she looks like she has grown a lot) and I’m guessing is 18.5lbs, because she normally gains a pound a month. I’m so excited to see what the next month will bring!
**Edit: Gosh Im good. Got her weighed, she is 18.6 lbs and they measured 26in, but you know how I feel about length measurements…**

My nephew is 8 months olds, and he isn’t crawling either. He knows how to roll over but rarely does it. He just figured out how to “scootch” on his stomach, but only makes it (very slowly) a foot or two before he decides he’s done. Some people are worried that he can’t crawl yet, but I say who the heck cares. He’ll do it when he’s ready.

Can she really be 7 months already? I love the picture when she is hanging on to her carseat for dear life “Hang On”. And sitting up like a big girl, wow she is adorable.

These are great photos!! She is so photogenic!
Gavin wasn’t crawling yet (he started at 8.5 months). And, he didn’t roll over at ALL, until 6.5 months, but then rarely did it. Now, if you ask him to roll he will just keep doing it, steam rolling into everything in his way.
Yay, Hailey for liking food- that is great! (good job, momma). I like reading about Haileys accomplishments, she is doing so well!
Gavin is so cute, at ball I loved how he just wanted to go to the swings! PS Congrats Lynndsay! I heard there’s another on the way!
I don’t think you need to worry about anything, Hailey is the most ALIVE child out there! And the cutest, obviously.
