Dear Readers,
For the last 19 (20?) years I have been fairly healthy. I’ve stayed out of the hospital, never broken a bone, got a concussion, or sprained anything. Let me tell you though, these things change. And they can change quickly. It all started on Sunday, when I was taking a shower. I have been known to fall in the shower in the past. Once I slid in our shower at home and broke a hole in the wall with my heel, cutting up my heel pretty badly. Don’t worry, Erica made sure I was okay when she heard all the bangs. So Sunday, I was having my shower, reaching down for the conditioner, when next thing I know, I’m bashing my head off of the ledge that goes all the way around the tub. Not a fun thing to do, nor painless. I now have a bruise on my knee from hitting it somewhere in the tub, and a nice feeling bruise on the top of my head, which hurts like heck everytime I brush my hair or wash my hair, or even put my hair up in a ponytail. Emily (roommate) was downstairs and ran upstairs when she heard the banging, and made sure I was okay. It was the only time I ever wish someone was videotaping me in the shower.
There is another story behind here, which involves blood, so if you don’t like that sort of thing, here is a short version: At cheerleading I got elbowed, my tooth went through my lip, and I got 4 stitches. There are also pictures, so if you don’t like stitches, a bit of blood or…lips(?), then I suggest skipping those too!
The next part of my story happens on Tuesday night. There is a gym in Ottawa called the Ottawa Gymnastics Centre, where people from my cheerleading team go every Tuesday to work on different stunts, and do some tumbling. I had never been before, but since we have a competition this weekend in Mississauga, one of my stunt groups decided to go. Well something went wrong, I won’t go into details, but again, next thing I know, Serena (my top) is coming down on me, aand her arm/elbow is going into my mouth. Now, you know when you get your nose hit, and you feel like it’s bleeding, then you wipe it, look at your hands, and it’s totally not? Well, that’s not what happened. This time, I looked down at my hands, and they were covered in blood. Like honestly, there was blood pooling in my hands. So I run to the change room, with other people cupping their hands under mine so the blood doesn’t get everywhere, and when I let my hands go, the sink is pretty much filled with blood. So basically, my top tooth went through my top lip (I don’t know how this happens), and into Serena’s arm, because now it looks like I bit her arm. By the time I get my coat on, a guy on my team is ready to take me to the hospital to get it checked out. I waited in the waiting room for about 2 hours with my friend watching Bring It On (obviouslyyy). Stitches freak me out. Like what the heck is with not feeling them, it’s so creepy. I’m not usually freaked out by this sort of thing, but when the doctor was getting the freezing ready to put into my lip I was like shaking, and holding back the tears. It’s just so creepy to me how someone can be sewing up my LIP, and I can’t feel it. Anyways, 4 lip stitches later, it’s 2am, and I’m finally home, in my bed, paaassing out. It was a very interesting day.
All those injuries got me to thinking about how beat up and bruised my body is right now. I have: a bruise on the top of my head, a stitched up lip, 5 bruises on my left arm, 3 bruises on my right arm, bruised *whispers* boobs, a bruise on my right knee from falling in the shower, aand a big scar from a cut I had recently on my left shin. And lucky me, we have a cheerleading competition this weekend! I was at Tim Hortons with my roommate this morning and he said that people were going to think he “Chris Brown’d” me. It hurt to laugh at that one.
Anyways, I have some pictures here just for fun. Remember: if you don’t like stitches, blood, or haggard looking faces, I suggest you don’t look at these!

My face the night of, too bad you can' see the blood on my shirt

Mouth the night of, all taped up, blood still on my face

Taken the next morning

Taken 3 days after. gross gross stitches, and a lopsided lip.
EWW!! I mean, AWWW baby!!! Feel better soon. <3
OMG LAu Lau I was wondering what was happening over there to you!! Thats awful! I have never had stiches either, and I can imagine they would be scary!!!
Aww Lau that must hurt! I hope it heals fast! Are they dissolving stitches or will you have to get them taken out?
I once bit through my lip too! With a broken tooth no less. Let me tell you the bright side though, you’ll get nice plump lips from the scar tissue!
Den and I think that you need one of those “Premiere Bathtubs” that you sit down in
Hope you’re feeling better soon!
Oh my gosh, you poor thing. That’s awful! Get better soon Lauren.

You poor thing. I’m glad the stitches are out now. Don’t worry about the scar, just keep your lips moisturised at all times and it’ll heal in no time!
