Baby Room Plans

It’s time to start thinking about the nursery. We aren’t finding out the gender of our little raspberry and at first I thought it was going to be really difficult to make the nursery gender neutral, but after looking at all of the photos I have saved I found a lot of things in common.

We’ll probably be making the bedding (by we I mean mom), but I have been looking at bedding and nursery galleries to get ideas. Most gender neutral nurseries I find are more boyish then neutral. And it doesn’t help that most people are guessing boy so far and it’s really clouding in on my thoughts! ‘Can’t look at that pink stuff, I’m having a boy’ thoughts keep swirling. What to do, what to do.

So far I’ve been attracted to yellow, green, patterns and alphabet. Which as it happens does work well for a gender neutral nursery.

ohdeedoh nursery

Love this nursery found at Ohdeedoh. It’s so bright and airy. I am really loving the yellow and white bedding.

Love the colours in this nursery from A Day in the Life. I also checked out that ‘quilt’ at Ikea and it was only like $14, quite a steal but wasn’t very soft.

nursery7

I like the colours in the one above, but I think the brown would make the room too dark . I think the letters in patterns are adorable though! (and I can’t remember where I saved it from, so let me know if it’s yours and I can credit you)

landofnodThe alphabet print above is from Land of Nod.

weedecor

I found this last one on Weedecor. And again with the solid colour and patterns.

What do you think? Do you see a connection or am I losing you?

I love the brown. I picture my non existent nursery as chocolatey browns and all calm and dark. However, I am not with child and will probably have some other vision once I am!

Very jealous of the decorating you get to do!

I love the look you’re going for. Sarah Richardson is one of my favourite designers and here is one of her baby rooms that might give you ideas too … I secretly love the chair.

The first Ohdeedoh pic was one of the first ones I saved, too. I just love the brightness of it but then realized that our set up did not include two giant windows to let in that light.

I love the look and definitely think you can pull it off. This whole decorating a nursery thing is SO much fun….especially in the dreaming stages:)

I never really enjoyed decorating or researching decorating before. Maybe because when we did the whole house it was just overwhelming and the only theme I had in mind was ‘cheap’! I’m really getting into doing the nursery though! I’m even enjoying the challenge of using leftover paint and working with the weird shape of the room.

I saw the first picture and said to myself “I love it”, then I saw the second picture and said the same thing…then that happened for all of them! I am nooo help! But I can’t wait to see what you pick!

Love all of them – especially the second one ;) . Thanks so much for posting a pic of my nursery. It needs quite a bit of work, but I’m glad you like it!
Several of those are ones that I have saved on my computer too. I really love that first one. I saw this one (http://www.spearmintbaby.com/2009/08/featured-nursery-wallpapered-ceiling.html) on Urbangraceinteriors.com the other day and it’s my new fave. It makes me want to start all over again. Can’t wait to see what you come up with!

    @Faith – Thanks!
@Kaitlin – I know there are so many pretty nurseries out there.
@sparklytosingle – It’s fun, but it makes me have to make decisions, which I’m not always the best at.
@Allison – I’m the total opposite! I picture really bright, which is totally me.
@Stef – I’ve seen that chair before on a website! It’s so pretty.
@Julia – I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
@Laura – I’m totally with you on the cheap thing.. I’m on kijiji every day.
@Lauren – glad you like them all, but I’m sad that you won’t really be able to help me decorate it!
@Erin – thanks for that link, I love the ceiling of that nursery!
@Linda – Thanks so much for the etsy link! Those look great, I really hope I can incorporate one into the nursery.
@doahleigh – hahaha I’m sure that Erica would be right there with you on that one, she adores elephants.
@La Petite Chic – yellow is so bright and cheerful, I can see why it’s your favourite colour :)
