Sanity Check in Aisle Seven

in life

I hate grocery shopping.  Or, at least, I think I hate it.  D practically grew up in a grocery store (his parents owned one) and always teases me for purchasing items from the ‘end caps’ or the ’sucker bins’, as he calls clearance stuff.  Also, if I get the milk out of the dairy cooler, he makes sure that I get it from the back so it’s the freshest.  Also, the expiration date is further away.  We don’t go through a lot of milk, so I guess that makes sense.

Sunday was a typical grocery shopping experience. Too many people, carts are too big, and I always seem to be standing in the wrong place.  I’m too meek to raise my voice higher than a whisper when saying “excuse me”.  Then, there was this extremely annoying family (isn’t there always one?).  Parents and their daughter, who looked to be about 13 or 14.  She was slouched over the cart and swearing like a trucker (no offense to truckers out there, it’s just a saying).  I wanted to smack her, tell her to watch her mouth, and to stand up straight.

I think I might be ready to have kids.

I miss grocery shopping in the middle of the night.  I love 24 hour grocery stores because you can go in at 2am when you have that mint-chocolate-chip ice cream craving.  Of course, you need to be able to drive to do that, so I guess I’m stuck for a while.

Grocery carts ARE too big. They ruin my grocery shopping experience. And baskets get so heavy.

I looked at a place on Fanshawe and Adelaide today – maybe we’ll be neighbours soon?? It was pretty sweet.

That would be cool! We can go to the dog park together. With our cats.

Grocery shopping on Sundays is the worst ever! Soo many people go and all the good food is gone, Scott and I normally go on Tuesday nights. We are trying to cut back to every other week because then we spend too much, but it’s hard because then we don’t get fresh vegetables.

I remember the first time I went grocery shopping with Denis. Let me tell you-scary experience. That guy just zooms through the store
