Movin on Out!

Kent and I found an apartment! It’s a cute little place in a house that is split up into 4 sections. It’s a one bedroom and pretty little, but that works out great for us because we generally don’t like to be more than 1 millimetre away from each other in the rare times that our work/play schedules actually allow us to see each other. I guess we can move into a bigger place later in our relationship when we don’t want to be in the same room as each other ever. I am pretty much mostly excited about the 2 kittens we are getting (Kent refuses to get one in case it gets lonely) and the fact that I get to have my very own kitchen table. So we are moving in on Sunday, which is also the day I find out if my laptop and ipod still works after being buried in some suitcase in our driveshed in negative temperatures for a month. Anyways, regardless of anything going wrong, like our kittens ending up hating each other, I decided today that it will all work out because Kent is probably the best person to live with: today I came home from work and he was cleaning my parents fridge out. And the freezer. Just because he felt like it. (This if a very daunting task in the Bontje household.) And then he told me that he can’t wait to have his own place so he can cook and clean.

I am also being forced out of my “THNKXDAD” license-plated jetta, into a car of my very own. I put my friend Dane, who knows a lot about cars, on to the task, and his dad is getting in on it as well. Today we looked at a 2000 Ford Taurus that had been driven by a 95 year old lady for 7 years and only has 3800 km on it. I’m pretty sure I can put that on my car just by looking at it…

So I guess I’ll have to let you know how this whole being independent thing goes. I also just found out that I am going to lose one of the centralizing forces in my life: My best friend from university, Amanda, who is going away to Korea to teach English for a year. There are just certain things that Amanda understands about me that no one else can: most importantly my love of all things food. We are going out for dinner next week and her only restriction is no Indian, because she doesn’t do spicy triangles. Her other great love is TV, she introduced me to Sex and the City which I could never repay her for, and bought me all of the Degrassi seasons on DVD. The only stipulation was that they stay at her house, so I wouldn’t be tempted to watch them without her. God forbid.

I will end this with a picture that can explain better than I can in words, how we feel around each other!:

So cool! Man you’re lucky! I was going crazy living with my bf the first time around (he had to move back to Ireland) because he would just mess up the place all the time! haha But we’re both pretty neat now.. though we don’t live together just yet.

Tell Amanda to be careful! I’ve lost a friend to Korea! He moved there to teach English 2 years ago and now he doesn’t want to come back!

Fragile Heart – I know! I told her she’s not allowed to meet any Korean boys. I know someone who that happened to.

Lau Lau – we move on Sunday so you don’t need to help! We already have a few helpers lined up – Eri and D, Leah, Kent’s dad… we are loved!
