The anti superbowl post.

The Superbowl is very high on the list of things that I can’t even pretend to pretend to care about, along with pretty much every other team sport. I can look at the screen for about two seconds before my mind wanders. So that’s why I’m sitting at home on this Sunday night finding things to interest me while the rest of the world is interested in football (making business cards actually made the list.) You know, I actually played football on a winter team in university, believe it or not. It was called Powderpuff Football and the name led me to believe that it might be fun… it wasn’t. This blog is for everyone else out there who needs something else to interest them tonight.

I’ve started supply teaching and it’s pretty awesome – I already have jobs booked for every day this week and one day next week. On Friday I got to be a librarian and spent the day helping kids check out books, reading to kindergartners, letting kids hang out in the library and play chess or put books away when they didn’t want to go out for recess (I can totally identify – I was totally one of those kids who looked for jobs in the school in the winter so I wouldn’t have to go out in the cold.) I am used to becoming BFFs with my coworkers so it was a little sad going in to two different schools and not knowing anyone, and having no one pay that much attention to me since they know I’m just there for a day. But then I would think instead about how much better this job is than the coffee shop or any other job I’ve ever had was and feel MUCH better.

I didn’t have my mom to take a picture of me on my first day of school so I took one of myself instead:

One good thing about not having my own classoom? If I wear the same thing every day, no one will ever know! I always find a favourite outfit and then it’s the only thing I want to wear for a few days, until I move onto a new one. This job totally feeds that habit. For the past three days I’ve been wearing a white t-shirt, tan cardigan and green scarf :

And there’s a good chance that this trend will continue tomorrow and no one will ever know (except Kent, but he has to love me anyways. Well actually not even Kent, because he won’t realize it.)

I thought it would be fun (okay, my boredom has reached it’s max!) to take a self timed shot and show you exactly what my anti-superbowl night looks like. My little buddy Levi is hanging out with me as usual so I’m not totally alone (Kent’s at a superbowl party.) The anti red eye wouldn’t work on the kitten’s eyes, what is up with that? It makes me laugh that Levi is looking at the camera, he’s so aware.

haha, your post is funny…I’m the same way with favorite articles of clothing!

I too, am very anti-superbowl. I wonder if Desperate Housewives is on now. I doubt it, since the superbowl takes over ALL CHANNELS!

I’m glad I’m not alone! It’s not just new clothing either – the cardigan is years old and I bought it at a thrift store, and the tshirt is an old Walmart tshirt that used to belong to one of my sisters. Hope you found Desperate Housewives!

you needed to go to the superbowl party with two babies at it and you wouldn’t even notice the game was on! I love that you updated tho so I had something to do while the hubby finishes watching the game!

The only reason I like the superbowl is for the food. I only watched about 2 min of the game and watched the halftime show.

I’m with you on the food! Kent made chili and I made apple crisp today, so I ate them during my anti superbowl party.

I’m watching the Sound of Music and avoiding the superbowl. I love finding new favorite outfits, mine usually involve scarves as well. I’m glad that you’re enjoying teaching!

Ohh Sound of Music is a VERY good anti-superbowl choice. Love that musical.

I heard baseball was a team sport. I too am not really a football fan either. I’d rather watch a hockey game but it was more getting together with friends and eating pizza and drinking beer. Sometimes you just need an excuse. A little too much on the americana though. As for interest in clothing. I think I’d rather watch a football game.
Love ya

Very proud of you teaching. Mrs. Cherry.

That’s why you have me around, to lay on the bed while you try on different things and laugh at your fashion mishaps. And to get in trouble when I sneak into the men’s side of the Winner’s change room because you need help picking out track pants. Stuff like that.

Thank goodness I was working, so I didn’t even have to think of caring. The manager on duty at work though took a small TV from electronics and watched the game at the courtesy desk. How unprofessional is that? Geez.

I’m not anti-superbowl but I saw your post so I thought I’d check it out and say hi! Nice to see you again (even if just in pictures).

I guess I’ll see you in person at Michelle and Dane’s stag in a few weeks. I hear it’s going to be a wicked cool video dance party too! :)

Take care!

Yeah they told me that you are hooking them up with that. Good work! See ya then!

My superbowl was fan-freaking-tastic. I didn’t watch the game, I watched Den – he had Hailey sleeping on his tummy for AT LEAST an hour. I think my ovaries exploded.

I am with Kate- I go for the food.

This year my friends and I split for one of those party-sized subs and had a dip-off (that is, a competition to see who could make the best dip). I feel this added a lot to my enjoyment of the party. Also, I won the dip-off, which was fun.

We only have 1 working TV in our house, and I got outvoted 3to 1 in favor of watching the game. Instead I napped, then blogged, then tried (unsuccessfully) to upload our wedding video, and then napped again.

I love football-and watched it twice…before you defriend me before you have met met ha ha…let me tell you. The first time I watched in my PJs with my little boy trying to ride the dogs. Then my McHubby came home from work before the game was over so we restarted it. I did not even get any yummy beer or food-BUT with that said I spent almost the whole game online with blogger friends and twitter. Anyhoo—-now that you think I am nuts and I have blabbed about myself a lot. I love your blog and I am new. My name is Juliana and I will shut up now.

I was happily working until the guys at the base decided to put it on and we didn’t have munchies or anything. Talk about a boring night for me! I got to watch paramedic guys hoot and hollar over touchdowns and bad calls…yay superbowl! Oh, and they turned the channel at half time so they didn’t have to watch it….haha

Oh man. I am also, so not a fan of football (though I’m sure I would’ve gone to a party for the right person (because I’m a love-nerd like that)). I had to watch a little bit of it at my parents’ house but mostly I played rock band with the family. You are so adorable taking photos of your first day of school and even more adorable for wearing the same outfit twice!

Can we hang out again soon?
