My best friend Michelle threw an engagement party for Kent and I a couple of weeks ago. It was a great time and lots of our friends showed up to congratulate us. We are so lucky to have so many wonderful friends in our lives. Thanks to Kate for being the official photog - we didn’t get pictures of about 80% of people at the party including Kate and Erica and their significant others but here are the few that she put up on facebook.
We arrived to find this sign on the door:

My mom and I enjoying some champagne - my drink of choice, celebration or no celebration.
My friend Carol from high school - she is the craziest, funniest girl ever and I love her for it, party host/best friend Michelle, me and Kent.

Michelle made me this fabulous cake and I practiced a cake cutting picture for the wedding. She thinks we look devilish here. 
I’m so ready for the real thing now.
Erica and D brought along some fireworks of Leah’s that they found at the farm and we set them off outside.
Another longtime friend named Michelle was there to celebrate too along with her boyfriend Jeff.

On Saturday I’m going to Toronto to the only bridal store in all of Ontario that carries my dream wedding dress: the Pronovia Valdemar:
I love everything about it - the fabric, the style, the fact that it isn’t overly poufy, the flowers which make it original, and the flowing back. Hopefully I like it as much on myself as I do on the perfect-bodied model. Let me know what you think of it!

Leah’s fireworks? I didn’t even know I had any … shows what my university life was like. Crazy, unrated and completely random!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the dress … I do believe Kent and I take all the cred here, if he hadn’t told me he was proposing, I wouldn’t have been in a wedding dress crazy at the grocery store and wouldn’t have given it a second thought! But, the dress just screams Micaela - I am going to look for it in Calgary on Saturday afternoon!

first of all, i love how you’re drinking your champagne out of that adorable cup and secondly…that dress is heavenly! it has just the right amount of detailing, but still makes you the center of attention (sometimes wedding dresses overwhelm instead of complement). i can’t wait to hear how it turns out!

Leah - I guess Erica and D found them in your drawer. I forgot to mention that you found me the dress, thank you for that.
Emily - That’s funny, because Michelle’s mom bought those glasses months before I got engaged and told me she was saving them for an engagement party. I think that was a hint to her daughters to get engaged, but either way I put them to good use! Thanks for loving my dress.
I think it’s perfect too and I am very picky when it comes to wedding dresses.
Michelle - Yayy! Me either, haha. I found another SWEET bridal store in Mississauga we are going to.
Allison - Well pink is one of my potential wedding colours.. haha.. umm NO! Kent doesn’t look at the blog unless I tell him to - one of the great mysteries of males. If he had a blog I would be all over it. Plus… he already knows about the dress! I can’t keep a secret. That’s bad, I know.
