I’m pretty sure it’s official. My belly has popped.
The popping of the belly has always been something I never really believed happened during pregnancy. People would say, ‘oh my belly popped at week __’ and I would think ummm probably not. I just thought it would gradually grow and slowly you make your way to a full 40 week belly that looks both huge and adorable at the same time. Nope, it happened. I noticed it yesterday at a friends wedding. I was wearing a dress and thought ‘holy, my belly looks huge! (for a 21 +5 week belly)’ but when I got home and took off the dress I was like ‘holy cow! My belly IS huge!’ (Although I do think that when you wear dresses it does really make the belly look a bit bigger then it actually is) And even today, wearing jeans I could notice it.
I’m still wearing all my normal clothes, jeans are feeling a bit tighter but overall still fine. I’m going to have to start searching for longer shirts soon, but really don’t want to have to get them from a maternity store because I just feel really young in those stores, even though I’m not that young. Good thing mom is making me a maternity wardrobe, to go along with whatever I buy. Puking is becoming more sporadic. I’m on a 4 day no puke run currently. Although there were about 3 different times today when I actually ran to the bathroom because I thought something was coming up. I have started having to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night again, which I very much dislike! It really ruins your sleep. I found out at the doctors on Thursday that I finally gained weight. About 8 pounds I think. My Oma told me today that she gained about 25 pounds with her pregnancy’s and then quickly lost it after, so hopefully I have her genes!
And for the best part of my past 2 weeks- The baby kicks! I’ve been feeling it more and more and noticed the other day that I could see the kicks from the outside as well as feeling them. Scott felt a little kick the other day, but because it’s so sporadic he hasn’t really felt a big kick yet. And as I type this the baby is kicking me! Such a cool feeling. The kicks are always really low like 2-3 inches below my belly button, which is probably why I can feel them because if it was kicking higher I wouldn’t feel it because the placenta would be in the way.
Mr. Kate (I’m adopting this name from Leah’s Mr. Leah because I think it’s adorable) and I went looking at nursery furniture on Sunday. Everything is so expensive! I really don’t want to have to pay $500 for a crib, WITHOUT the mattress. And it’s great that most cribs convert from a crib, to day bed, to double bed but really we don’t want that because by the time the first kid is ready for a bigger bed there will probably be another one on the way. So we are going to keep searching, I know we will find the perfect set, someday…
This is the fabric that we are thinking about using for the nursery. It’s not too girly, and not boyish either. If we use that I think we’ll also paint the walls the green colour and use some other blue, green and yellow solid and gingham fabrics as well.
While I do love that fabric there is so much out there, here are some other ones that I saved while looking for inspiration…
Any new guesses out there? Boy or Girl?
126 days to go!

Holy moses Katers!!!! You look amazing. I never really understood what “glowing” pregnant women meant, but I do now!
Give Razzle a pat for me, and ps. it’s going to be a boy! I just feel it. Obviously whatever it is we are going to love the shit out of that little baby! I AM SO EXCITED!!!
You look great! And definitely look like you’ve popped. Funny, but I also have a sense it’ll be a boy. You’ll shock everyone if you have a girl!

Also, I really love the fabric you chose and especially the idea of pairing it with gingham! Very cute.
great post kate! glad you’re enjoying the kicks, isn’t it fun to feel like you’re never alone anymore? I love the first pattern for the nursery! As for the boy/girl thing, I’ll go against the crowd and say girl! Everyone guesses girl for me, but I had a dream Saturday night that I had a boy and even the date that I would have it… let us know if you have any strange dreams!
You are such a beautiful pregnant lady!! That dress is gorgeous on you
Also, I can’t wait to see more about the baby room… I love decorating! And I’m not going to guess because I prefer not to know

you already know my guess via twitter, but i’ll tell you again.. BOY!!
hah..
Also, I know that you probably want to buy a nice new pretty crib but i have an extra one if you want it. It’s a pretty basic white one.. ( I have 4 cribs.. haha, 1 @ my parents, 1 @ the cottage, and then I have 1 for Liam and then Thomas’ old one ) so just know the offer is there in case you need it.
OR if you want to find a nice crib that’s not tooo expensive try :

I think that is for sure a popped belly! Love it, so cute.
And I vote for a girl just because I have a feeling about it.
I agree that cribs and all baby furniture are ridiculously expensive and I really don’t want one that converts into a million different beds, either. So pointless!

AAaaaaahhh people are stealing my girl guess!!

I WAS just going against the crowd (it’s worked for me before) but now I guess I’m just in the smaller crowd
You look so pretty in that dress!
My goodness, you look so great with your baby bump!
I’m going to say a girl.

I vote boy, based on all the girls in your own family.
For the pants, have you heard of a Bella Band? It is like a tube top for your tummy to bridge the gap from pants to shirts. I never used one, but I hear good things about them, and they prolong the transition to maternity clothes.
And good for you gaining weight, the little one needs it. THe best way to lose it is to nurse the baby, I was back in my regular clothes 6 weeks after Daniel was born, I think I gained about 25- 35 pounds.
Kind of interesting how, of the people who you know in real life – me, Lauren, Leah, Erica, and Laura (well and Reggy, but she didn’t guess), the people who guessed it was a boy said they have a strong feeling about it, and the people who guessed it was a girl were saying it to go against the crowd, and it didn’t seem like they had strong feelings about it.
I don’t know how accurate my baby feelings are as I’ve never had a strong feeling about anyone’s baby before! But maybe since you used to say Scott wants a boy first (although don’t get me wrong, I know he’d be so happy either way!), that swayed people’s “feelings.”
When you said people think Laura’s baby is a girl I had this strong sense of “yes, that’s right.” It will be so interesting to see if these babies prove us wrong or right!

That is really interesting Mic!
Thanks for all the guesses everyone, I love hearing what people guess.
