24 weeks is also known as viability week, from this point on if raspberry were born early he or she has a greater chance for survival every day! But raspberry better not get any ideas, I plan on keeping him growing in my belly at least until January! By the end of this week raspberry could weigh up to a pound. Week 21-24 baby is the size of a Papaya (up to 11.8 inches long by the end of week 24). I’ve been feeling more and more kicks every day, and I still never get over how amazing of a feeling it is. Whenever I’m laying down on the couch I always have my shirt folded up over my belly and place my hands and just wait for kicks, I must look crazy to Scott but it’s really cool! Also every week I get closer to losing my belly button. I started out with a very deep belly button, and now I can easily see (and poke) the bottom of it. The end is nearing…
So how have I been feeling? I had a week off from puking, which was great. I still felt sick every morning, but as long as I can ignore it until I leave the house for work I can go without puking. This weekend hasn’t been so great though. The puking returned and I just never felt 100%.
I really thought I would LOVE pregnancy, that I would love being pregnant and growing a big belly and everything that comes with it. But it really tires me out. It’s not that I hate it, but I’m finding that even though my belly isn’t that big yet I already feel uncomfortable when I sleep and I’m very tired by the end of the day. Also I must have forgot about the fact that I hate attention, and growing a belly you get more attention then you could want! Every day people ask you how you are feeling (and I always answer honestly, even if they don’t want to hear it and some rub your belly (which I love- as long as it’s from people I know).
Last Thurday Scott and I started our pre-natal classes in London. We have a great teacher from the health unit and the class is made up of about 8 other couples who all seem really nice (especially Laura and Matt, our friends who are in the class who we KNOW are nice). We will learn about a variety of topics. On Thursday we tried out different breathing techniques for dealing with pain, we all got ice cubes to hold and we had to squeeze them and deal with the pain of our numbing hands. It was a good way to induce some pain, without actually hurting ourselves to try techniques.
I’m not wearing my maternity clothes yet. My jeans are getting a bit tight (but not uncomfortable), so I should try out the belly band that mom made for me. I also still need to look for more shirts, I’m so sick of all my clothes, and this pregnancy is a great excuse for more… shopping anyone?
Here is my 23 (top) & 24 (bottom) week photos:

of course you’re tired – growing an entire human being is hard work!
Yeahhh viability week!
I always heard that pregnant women hated people touching their bellies so I refrained from touching yours… until now!
Micaela´s last blog ..24 weeks
you should totally invest in a pre-natal sleeping pillow. I haven’t had any trouble sleeping since I got it. It has other uses once the baby comes too which is a plus!
@micaela, I heard we start hating people touching our bellies once they are bigger and we’re all around more uncomfortable so I’d say get your touching in while you can!
So freaking cute, Kate. I can’t believe you are still in regular clothes! Sorry you are STILL puking…..ugh.

Kate you look great! I hope you make lots of baby-friends for Razzle in the group. I’m sorry to hear about the puking.
I have to say, I was rather surprised to hear that you actually LIKE getting your belly touched. Just knowing you, I would have assumed that you would detest it. So good for you! And I am giving you a cross-country belly rub right … NOW!
Hey Kate;
You look awesome… sorry to hear that you are still puking. That stinks
*hugs* Hope you learn lots from the class.
