It’s Thanksgiving weekend!
I know that four of the blondes are having a fabulous Thanksgiving weekend so far - we’ve already enjoyed lots of turkey and family time and there is lots more to come tomorrow and Monday. Well Katelyn was at a wedding today, but she’ll be joining us tomorrow. But there is one thing missing from our holiday… can you guess what it is?
Yep, it’s these two beauties, our sister Leah and her boyfriend Tim. Holidays are always the hardest part of being far from home in my experience. For those back at home, holidays are the time that you miss those that are far away the most. I am thankful that they’ve found some people out there that love them to spend their holiday weekend with.
I was looking at my friend and her fiance’s wedding website and found a quote that I really liked.
“Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being “in love” which any of us can convince ourselves we are.
Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Your mother and I had it, we had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossom had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two.
- Captain Corelli’s Mandolin. “Love is the beauty of the soul.”
Beautiful, no? I am also very thankful for all the love I have in my life. And that’s a lot.
Whether it’s Thanksgiving where you are or not, what are you thankful for?

I am thankful for you!
I know exactly what you mean about missing family that are far away. my brother is about 3 hours north of Leah up in Edmonton. it sucks when they cant come home, and you cant go to them!
and that quote is beautiful and so true.
Thanks Mickeypoo!!!! I love the quote, I read it to Tim and he was like “Mic wrote that? He doesn’t quite understand the idea of using a “quote.” He said you were cheating!”
I, on the other hand, love it. I am thankful that I got to spend Thanksgiving weekend with amazing people, and that I got to hold a healthy week old baby. I am thankful that I don’t have to work today and that I have Crave cupcakes in my freezer and that I have amazing butternut squash soup to eat for lunch that Tim made.
And for my sisters!
….and for my mommy and daddy???

I love that quote. I’m going to read it to Matt! That’s a quote married people want hear!
It is pretty wonderful - hope Matt liked it! Kent liked it but not to the extent that I wanted him to - I think it was more of a “If I say I liked it she’ll go away and let me read my cookbook” kind of liking. Maybe not though.
