As many of you know, both Kate and I attended the University of Guelph. I know we have at least a couple of readers who have also done so (Hi Laura! Hi Allison! Hi Laura Jean! Hi Allison H!) Apparently a lot of Laura’s and Allison’s went to Guelph. I happen to have fallen in love with that city when I was there for four long-yet-not-long-enough years, and I do everything I can to maintain my connection with the Royal City.
Today I found a blog that will help me maintain my connection to Guelph even more! If you are at all (or not at all) interesting in the goings-on of the city of Guelph visit Blog Guelph and drop them some love. I think it is so cool that Guelph itself has a blog. It has photos, events and news related to Guelph. It is also a finalist in the photo art category of the Canadian Blog Awards. At least, go vote for a blog that is truly awesome! Guelph really is a great city, and I miss it there all the time. Although, Calgary is becoming a serious rival. I feel as though I have finally carved my niche here! I am finding all the cool hidden consignment shops (outfit blog to follow this one regarding an excellent find), I am becoming a regular at some awesome spots, the guy in the convenience store in my building now knows me by name, as does the guy in the liquor shop down the street (what can I say, I am a wino). Natalie and I are having fun finding all the fun new places we can. It’s not easy moving to a new city, but luckily I have a great friend, a great boyfriend, amazing family and tons of support from home. Maybe that is the key to a successful move across the country?
EDIT: I have uploaded the pictures from my birthday.
The outfit: This shirt makes me feel like a rockstar and is the comfiest bar shirt to ever exist!
Tim didn’t come out with us because he was tired, and until looking at the photos I didn’t realize how tired he actually looked! Being in hotels, they work you right to the bone.
There may have only been two of us out, but clearly Natalie and I were excited enough for two hundred! There’s nothing like starting out in a fancy club and ending up in a bar in a basement and being happier in the latter.
This is my only evidence from the zoo, obviously I couldn’t resist the baby gorilla and her Mommy napping and playing together!
Tim took me to Murrietta’s West Coast Bar and Grill for my birthday dinner and my restaurant review is: amazing atmosphere, gorgeous restaurant and bar, preofessional staff, amazing melt-in-your-moutn foie gras, and our mains (bouileebaisse and elk two ways) left something to be desired (that doesn’t sound right?), great wine, and even Creemore on tap for Tim – bonus!
Kudos to Mic for the purse, Leah and Stef for the earrings, and Kate for the getting ready rock-out music! That you SO MUCH ladies! Oh, and Tim for the hour long hot stone massage I am getting tomorrow!
Sorry for the giant photos, Erica you can alter them if you like! I am so not great at that sort of thing. I would love a tutorial over Christmas.

I’m definitely going to check out that blog! As well, I really want to come visit you guys with Matt! I think we could have a prrrrretty fun weekend in the city! …I’ll keep an eye out for super cheap flights!
There are some amazing deals at Westjet. Boner and Chubbs are coming out for a grand total of $380.00 EACH! That’s a great price. It would be so awesome if you came!! We have visitors coming the last week of January and the first week of February but other than that are free as birds!
I thought I should come out from my lurking status.
A big move can be so stressful! I did one 3 months ago, and we are still trying to settle in. But it sounds like everything is going great for you. You know your settled when the bottle store knows you by name!
Guelph is a pretty cool city!
Your move across the country isn’t going quite so successfully for me. Luckily I don’t plan on going as long as I have without seeing you for the past 7 months EVER again after December 19.
Kent wants to know if you &/or Tim want to go see a Flames game on Jan 30? He says we can get tickets for like $30 probably.

@Ashlea – Congrats on the entrance from the lurking status! We welcome you. I look forward to learning more about your big move. I love that liquor store owner! And he even tells me about the great wine he has drank lately. That’s good service.
@ Mic – Tim has been to a couple but I haven’t and would love to go! It is only like a 15-20 minute walk from our house so it would work out very well! Go for it.
Micaela, you moving to Calgary as well?!
Thanks for the link to the Guelph blog, I never would have found it on my own!
