One Week

What would you do if you only had one week to live?  Katelyn lent me a movie last week that I literally just finished.  Like the credits are rolling right now, and I decided that I just HAD to write a post about it.  It’s called One Week, and it’s a Canadian film with tons of Canadian landmarks, and a great Canadian actor, Joshua Jackson.  Anways, Joshua Jackson plays Ben Tyler, the man character, and he is from Toronto.  At the beginning of the movie Ben is diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.  On his way home from the doctors he comes across a man selling a motorcycle.  He then begins his adventure across Canada, stopping at Canada’s Worlds Largest monuments along the way.  This movie had me googling all these monuments and wanting to go to them!  The closest I’ve gotten was to an Indian Head in Saskatchewan, and an Apple in Colborne on the way to Ottawa.  I try to stop at the apple everytime I go to Ottawa, but I only go for the goats and the apple, since I don’t like pie!  Along with awesome Canadian monuments, landmarks and scenery, this movie has some amazing music.  Hellooo Joel Plaskett! He even plays a busker in Toronto in the movie.

This is the last quote in the movie, and I’d have to say. I love it-

“So the question becomes, or should have been all along, what would you do, if you knew you only had one day, or one week, or one month to live?  What lifeboat would you grab onto?  What secret would you tell? What band would you see?  What person would you declare your love to? What wish would you fulfill? What exotic locale would you fly to for coffee? What book would you write?”

Thanks for the review of ‘One Week.’ I’ll definitely look for it; perhaps it will inspire me to write a few of the short stories that are rattling around in my brain related to my last motorcycle trip, from London to the Terry Fox Memorial in Thunder Bay.

Did the movie character stop at The Missing Horse restaurant near Thunder Bay? After trying their meatloaf I felt I knew where the horse went.

I’ve wanted to see that movie for ages! The thought of traveling across Canada is pretty appealing and something that I’ve wanted to do for awhile. And bonus… Josh Jackson is easy on the eyes ;)

Hmmm wonder if this movie is available in SA. Would love to see what Canada has to offer. A week isn’t enough time for me to do everything i want.

I would fly all my friends and family to a vineyard in France and marry Tim on said Vineyard and bike around and eat lots of cheese and pain au chocolat.
