Last week my bridesmaids and I went to a cute store downtown to look for bridesmaid dresses. It was very successful, we found a few that we liked and one that everyone, as far as I can tell, really loved.

This dress looked better when the associate helping us tied a sash around it, but still, it wasn’t a big hit.

They tried on a dress similar to this but I believe it was made out of taffeta. It looked really, really good but is just not right for an August wedding.

This one looked awesome but is much too skintight in person.

This dress is apparently a big seller for bridesmaids dresses but we did not love it. I think it looked a little too young. We also tried on a strapless tiered purple dress that looked amazing but was $300 and I could not ask my bridesmaids to spend that much!
Annnnnnnnnnnnd the winner (so far!):

This beauty! We loved it all: the taffeta, the bow, the tulip style, and the pockets. We can’t make any decisions until mid January/February because the holiday and winter collections are still in the stores and they don’t yet know what the summer collections will include. Hopefully they will include this dress! Or maybe we’ll find something even better, who knows. Bright pink and yellow will be our wedding colours but I think I’m going to stick with black for the bridesmaid dresses. It’s more versatile and I don’t think this dress would look as good in pink or yellow.
Afterwards, Leah, Lauren and I went to the mall to finish up Christmas shopping and found lots and lots of lookalikes to the dress for less than half the price. That was really tempting so they tried a bunch on but none could compare. The one we liked best was this dress from Jacob:

It is a holiday dress and would only be in stores for a couple more days, though, so once again we might have to check out the malls once summer stuff comes out.
So far, so good! Thanks to my bridesmaids for being so much fun and for looking perfect in everything.

Wow! Surprisingly, I love all of them, but the last was definitely my favorite. I loved the second one, too. I wonder what the best time of year would be for a dress like that.

Thanks all! My goal was non-bridesmaid looking dresses too. That’s the reason I didn’t even go to any traditional bridal stores, just to a cute dress store.
