Last night we watched a movie with some friends who recently got engaged. D is in their wedding party so I get to ogle him in a tux in December! He was marveling over how quickly they are planning everything (they have the date, venue, church, photographer in the first two weeks). I gently reminded him that their engagement? Will be about a quarter the length of of ours. One. Quarter. We are having a 21-month engagement. For the record, not my idea – although there are various reasons as to the long engagement, like my education. Finishing it, that is.
This may come as a shock to some of you but I’ve actually been doing wedding-planning-esque activities lately. Thinking about flowers, colors, centerpieces, photography, surfing the net and bookmarking things I like. Thinking and bookmarking qualifies as planning, right?
I was never the type of girl to dream about my wedding growing up. I just figured that it would, you know, happen. Mom, on the other hand, had her dream of marrying the five of us off to a family of five boys in a mass wedding sponsored by Kodak, possibly televised and in People magazine. Seriously. With all the media attention this could get she figured that she wouldn’t need to pay a cent. Needless to say, this didn’t fly with us. Sure, we like doing things together (just ask Mic and Leah about their double wedding plans) but a quintuple wedding is a little much!
I guess I do have one dream for my wedding. It’s going to be a little tough to make it work, but I’m going to try my hardest!

I want a classic Volkswagen Beetle as my wedding car. Dad had a beetle when he and mom first started dating, but got rid of it long ago. I’m still mad at him for that.
Londoners, if you know anyone…let me know!!
Do you have a dream wedding car?

Everytime I hear of a family with 5 boys around our age I always think of mom’s wedding plans for us. And oops too bad I wrecked those plans!

my uncle has a bright orange volkswagon van…would that work at all?
A van is a better idea because then we can all fit in it and do shots together before the wedding… helloooo
there is a little kitchenette in it! it’s a camping van, so it’d definitely be set up for party time. but whether he’d actually part with it for a day…i just don’t know!
VOLKSWAGON VAN!!!

I find an odd pull when it comes for my future wedding (which is not officially planned yet, given the whole not-engaged thing)… I don’t want anything super opulent, since I can’t justify the money, but I could never do the city hall thing either!

I never thought about that, I’d always assumed it would be a limo or something.
My dad restores Mustangs so maybe a 65 Mustang. hahah that would be amazing!
