Denis and I took today off to Get Sh*t Done, as we like to say. We got the worst part of our day done at 9am at the dentist’s office. Thank goodness for super-early 8am appointments! I can’t believe I was able to stay awake through it as I’m usually still in bed at 8. The passport office was surprisingly fast, and we have the good fortune of parking at a meter that had 44 minutes left on it. Sisters, my parking karma was Louie-like.
Finally, the big news of the day: we’ve booked our honeymoon! We have been looking at brochures and websites and considering our options for the past couple of weeks, talking to friends and family, and of course looking at pricing. While we had originally talked about taking a trip to Vancouver and doing some sightseeing in British Columbia, after thinking about what we wanted to do we narrowed our choices down to either a Caribbean cruise or Las Vegas. The verdict?

We’re going to Vegas! (as if you couldn’t tell from the title…)
I’m dying to see a Cirque du Soleil show and I’m eager to take a day trip to see the Hoover Dam. Den enjoys playing the slots (the first time we ever went to a casino together, he won over $500, while last year I had some good luck here in London!). We’re not huge gamblers though and we’ll definitely not be spending every day in the casinos!
We’re going a week after the wedding and will be staying at the MGM Grand. I’m so excited! Our landlord thinks that going to Vegas is “cheesy”, but I disagree. Besides, isn’t your honeymoon supposed to be a time to relax and have fun with your new spouse? It doesn’t matter where we are as long as we’re having fun.
I’ve gotten some advice already about what to see and do (such as the fountains at the Bellagio), but if you’ve ever been to Vegas (or even just want to) we’d love to know what your favorite attractions are!

YAY! You finally made a decision!! I would love to see Cirque, it looks amazing.

Besides the fountains at the Bellagio I think there are two must sees. First you have to walk the strip at night. All the lights are totally dizzying and amazing, plus there are these guys that hand out prostitute ads and they are sort of like baseball trading cards. It’s just an experience.
Secondly you have to check out the Venetian. It is just such a spectacle.
No matter what, take a day or two when you get home to regroup, because Vegas is totally sensory overload, and it’s awesome!

so are you going for a week right after the wedding or are you leaving the week after the wedding? i would LOVE to go to vegas, the hubby not so much, so if you love it we’ll have to do a girls trip there someday!
Honeymoon is perfect for Vegas. They offer all kinds of free or cheap show tickets (and tickets for Hoover and whatnot too I believe) to couples who are married. Sure, you may have to listen to a short presentation but FREE STUFF.
My suggestion: go see the Beatles’ LOVE Cirque de Soleil. Boy and I saw it when we were there, it is INCREDIBLE.
Also, use the coupons the hotel gives out in their “Vegas!” guides. All kinds of awesome stuff in there, like going up the Eiffel tower for cheap. The light show from up there is awesome, and you get the whole view of the strip at night.

Have SO much fun. We didn’t even get 5 days off after our wedding (don’t get me started…) so we’re planning an unofficial honeymoon this year or next year where we really do it properly.
Good job for taking care of this right away! =)
Woot Woot!!! I sure you’ll have a blast.

Very jealous! I want to get there so badly right now! What a great honeymoon idea! I think it’s awesome. It’s nice to have lots to do. Matt and I spent our first day at an amusement park and in malls! It’s definitely not about where you go, but just being on that first vaca as old marrieds. And I’m sure you’ll find crazy perks for being newlyweds. In fact, note to self to pretend to be newlyweds when we go!
DM in Twitter didn’t leave me enough room for Vegas
In addition to the water fountain show, make sure you take in their Sunday brunch. Its by no means cheap, but probably the best food I ate while I was there. So good.
Also do the old strip once. And as someone else has already pointed out, the new strip at night too. There is a pretty good outlet mall next to a Fryes Electronics that is worth doing some shopping at.
You have to eat at least one 2.99 all you can eat buffet… I suggest the one at Horrible’s Casino. Off the beaten path, but fun to say you had a $2.99 all you can eat.
And by all means look for coupons and deals and do plenty of research before you go. Nothing in Vagas should be had a ticket price… especially the shows.
And play craps! Most fun ever. I’d never gambled until I went to Vegas. Craps was the game my friends played so I tried. If you get a good table it is a hoot!
Have a great time!
There is so much to do in Vegas, it will be great for your honeymoon. The Bellagio is a must see!

Vegas sounds fun! I’d love to pretend that I’ve been and have advice but I haven’t. My parents on the other hand just got back from a trip there (see how they vacay AFTER I’ve moved out!?). My mom really enjoyed the Hoover Dam and both parental units enjoyed the Beatles Cirque Du Soleil show.

Vegas! I went last year for the first time and had the time of my life. Seriously! I went to Stomp and it was soooooo good. It was definitely one of the highlights of my trip and the ticket was so reasonable (I think it was… $50?). Anyway, definitely awesome. I also did the Hoover Dam and really loved it too. I bought roughly 4.5 billion postcards of that place to try and capture how cool that place was.

I love Vegas-I could go there every year there is just so much to do. My fave hotel is NYNY. But I’m partial cause that is where I stayed, but like the others said the Venetian is pretty, and you can ride in a gonodola with your husband
I stop by to tell you , You won my little CD contest. Yay. So e-mail me your address at brittanyervin86@yahoo.com. And I’ll send it right out
